What’s New in Homeless Health Care? An Annotated Bibliography of Selected Research Studies, 1/1/15 – 3/31/16 I. Health Status

The authors assessed geriatric conditions in a sample of 350 currently and recently homeless adults ≥50 years old residing in unsheltered and sheltered locations throughout Oakland, CA. Overall, 39% reported difficulty performing activities of daily living, 34% reported a fall in the past 6 months, 26% had cognitive impairment, 45% had visual impairment, 36% had hearing impairment, and 48% reported urinary incontinence. In general, the prevalence of these impairments did not vary significantly across differing living environments.
