چکیده

The Johnson Space Center performed a preliminary reduction of the data taken by a Langley-designed velocity-measuring system using a Hall-eect device during the Crew and Equipment Translation Aid (CETA) experiment on the STS-37 Shuttle ight in April 1991. The data reduction provided average velocity proles. This paper describes a new enhanced data reduction technique based on a least-squares method that allows instantaneous velocity proles to be obtained. Sample velocity pro-les of several CETA carts tested in this experiment were obtained using this technique. The results show that the technique dramatically enhances the velocity measurement, especially at the beginning and end of the runs.

Flight Path Angle Steering with Lambert Guidance Reference

In this paper a new guidance technique for ballistic missiles and launch vehicles is proposed. Generally the Lambert guidance is used to generate missile nominal (correlated) parameters through powered flight to put it in a ballistic flight path. Because of uncertainties and undesired factors, the nominal position and velocity obtained by Lambert technique need to be followed in actual flight. ...

EFFECT OF NOZZLE DIAMETER AND ATOMIZING AIR PRESSURE ON CHARACTERISTICS OF IN-FLIGHT PARTICLES IN WIRE ARC SPRAYING

In wire arc spraying, the atomizing air pressure and applied nozzle system are important factors influencing particles characteristics and coating quality. The aim of this paper is to study how the characteristics of particles such as size, velocity and temperature are influenced by the operating conditions in wire arc spray. For that, three types of wires are tested: solid wire of stainless st...

The Ams Time of Flight System

The Time of Flight (TOF) system of the AMS experiment provides the fast trigger to the detector and measures the crossing particle direction, velocity and charge. AMS was operated aboard of the shuttle Discovery on June 1998 (NASA STS-91 mission) and will be upgraded and installed on the International Space Station at the end of 2003, for 3 years of data taking. The performances of the TOF duri...

A New Analytical Approach to Flight Equations

The six-degree equations of flight in their classic form do not provide a proper physical perception due to a number of interferences. Nor do they render visible the important role of attack angles. In this study, attempts have been made to develop a complete set of 3D acceleration equations from the equations of normal and tangential acceleration αN=vωv, αt=v ̇. For this purpose, a coordinate s...
