چکیده

Introduction With repetitive ankle sprains, reparative tissues can be generated and often become hypertrophied and entrapped in the ankle joint. They induce and aggravate synovitis, sometimes causing soft tissue impingement of the ankle. Although comparatively rare, anteromedial soft tissue impingement is becoming increasingly reported on the radiologic and orthopedic literature (1-5). However, routine MR imaging has not yet been proven useful in detecting anteromedial soft tissue impingement. In a previous study, it has been reported that diagnostic accuracy of CE 3D-FSPGR was high in assessing anteromedial soft tissue impingement (6). That has a few limitations; the small number of population and the lack of comparison with routine MR imaging. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of contrast enhanced (CE), fat suppressed, 3D-FSPGR MR imaging in the diagnosis of anteromedial soft tissue impingement of the ankle, comparing to routine MR Imaging.

Ankle MRI for Anterolateral Soft Tissue Impingement: Increased Accuracy with the Use of Contrast-Enhanced Fat-Suppressed 3D-FSPGR MRI

OBJECTIVE To validate the use of contrast-enhanced (CE) fat-suppressed three-dimensional (3D) fast gradient-recalled acquisition in the steady state with radiofrequency spoiling (FSPGR) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the diagnosis of anterolateral soft tissue impingement of the ankle, as compared to the use of routine ankle MRI. MATERIALS AND METHODS Contrast-enhanced fat-suppressed 3D-...

MR imaging of ankle impingement syndromes.

551 nkle impingement syndromes are painful conditions caused by the friction of joint tissues, which is both the cause and the effect of altered joint biomechanics. The leading causes of impingement lesions are posttraumatic ankle injuries, usually ankle sprains, resulting in chronic ankle pain [1]. From anatomic and clinical viewpoints, these syndromes are classified as anterolateral, anterior...

Quantification of blood-brain-barrier permeability dysregulation and inflammatory activity in MS lesions by dynamic-contrast enhanced MR imaging

Objective: Measurement of blood-brain permeability dysfunction in active and chronic MS lesions with T1-weighted dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI to show variation in inflammatory activity Background: blood-brain-barrier perfusion characterization impaired in MS as some studies have shown recently buta comparison between perfusion parameters in contrast-enhanced and non-enhanced lesions not have ...

Dynamic Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) and Diffusion Weighted MR Imaging (DWI) for Differentiation between Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors

Background: Salivary gland tumors form nearly 3% of head and neck tumors. Due to their large histological variety and vicinity to facial nerves, pre-operative diagnosis and differentiation of benign and malignant parotid tumors are a major challenge for radiologists. Objective: The majority of these tumors are benign; however, sometimes they tend to transform into a malignant form. Functional M...

The Impact of Flip Angle and TR on the Enhancement Ratio of Dynamic Gadobutrol-enhanced MR Imaging: In Vivo VX2 Tumor Model and Computer Simulation.

Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is widely used to diagnose cancer and monitor therapy. The maximum enhancement ratio (ERmax) obtained from the curve of signal intensity over time could be a biomarker to distinguish cancer from normal tissue or benign tumors. We evaluated the impact of flip angle (FA) and repetition time (TR) on the ERmax values of dynamic gadobutr...
