Computation with Narrow CTCs

چکیده
We examine some variants of computation with closed time-like curves (CTCs), where various restrictions are imposed on the memory of the computer, and the information carrying capacity and range of the CTC. We give full characterizations of the classes of languages recognized by polynomial time probabilistic and quantum computers that can send a single classical bit to their own past. Such narrow CTCs are demonstrated to add the power of limited nondeterminism to deter-ministic computers, and lead to exponential speedup in constant-space probabilistic and quantum computation. We show that, given a time machine with constant negative delay, one can implement CTC-based computations without the need to know about the runtime beforehand.

Computation and Spacetime Structure
We investigate the relationship between computation and spacetime structure, focussing on the role of closed timelike curves (CTCs) in promoting computational speedup. We note first that CTC traversal can be interpreted in two distinct ways, depending on ones understanding of spacetime. Focussing on one interpretation leads us to develop a toy universe in which no CTC can be traversed more than...
متن کاملClosed timelike Curves in relativistic Computation
In this paper, we investigate the possibility of using closed timelike curves (CTCs) in relativistic hypercomputation. We introduce a wormhole based hypercomputation scenario which is free from the common worries, such as the blueshift problem. We also discuss the physical reasonability of our scenario, and why we cannot simply ignore the possibility of the existence of spacetimes containing CTCs.
متن کاملOne Time-traveling Bit is as Good as Logarithmically Many
We consider computation in the presence of closed timelike curves (CTCs), as proposed by Deutsch. We focus on the case in which the CTCs carry classical bits (as opposed to qubits). Previously, Aaronson and Watrous showed that computation with polynomially many CTC bits is equivalent in power to PSPACE. On the other hand, Say and Yakaryılmaz showed that computation with just 1 classical CTC bit...

Background: The analysis of the gene copy number alterations in tumor samples are increasingly used for diagnostic and prognostic purposes in patients with gastric cancer (GC). However, these procedures are not always applicable due to their invasive nature. In this study, we have analyzed the copy number alterations of five genes (HER2, MDM2, c-MYC, c-MET, and TP53) with a fixed relevance for ...
