Self-guided retrospective motion correction (SEGMO) for free-breathing whole-heart coronary MRA with 100% acquisition efficiency

چکیده
Background Free-breathing whole heart coronary MRA uses diaphragm navigator to gate data acquisition, which suffers from the need for time-consuming and exquisite positioning, prolonged scan time due to low gating efficiency, and inaccuracy in motion detection. In this work, a respiratory motion correction scheme is proposed with an affine motion model for accurate estimation of respiratory motion, and uses 1D projections to derive heart position and segment 3D radial data into respiratory bins.

Free-breathing 3D whole-heart coronary mra using respiratory motion-resolved sparse reconstruction
Background Navigator gating is commonly used to minimize respiratory motion in free-breathing whole-heart coronary MRA [1]. However, lengthy and unpredictable acquisition times remain a drawback. Respiratory self-navigation (SN) [2-3], conversely, enables 100% scan efficiency, but performs motion correction over a broad range of respiratory displacements, which can result in image artifacts. He...
متن کاملMotion corrected sensitivity encoded isotropic projection reconstruction (SNIPR) for whole-heart coronary MRA
Background As has been shown recently, the use of undersampled 3D projection reconstruction (3DPR) and image-based motion correction with 100% acquisition efficiency [1,2] enables highly accelerated coronary MRA (CMRA) with high isotropic resolution. However, streaking artifact from undersampling significantly reduces the apparent signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Moreover, affine motion correction ...
متن کاملImproved coronary artery definition with T2-weighted, free-breathing, three-dimensional coronary MRA.
BACKGROUND Three-dimensional (3D) navigator-gated and prospectively corrected free-breathing coronary magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) allows for submillimeter image resolution but suffers from poor contrast between coronary blood and myocardium. Data collected over >100 ms/heart beat are also susceptible to bulk cardiac and respiratory motion. To address these problems, we examined the eff...
متن کاملECG/Navigator-Free 4D Whole-Heart Coronary MRA with Simultaneous Visualization of Cardiac Function and Anatomy
Purpose: Cardiac and respiratory motion artifacts are major challenges in cardiac MRI, and are conventionally suppressed by prospective ECG and diaphragm navigator gating, respectively. However, these approaches require time-consuming setup and prolonged acquisition times, and are susceptible to variations of heart rate or respiratory pattern. Further, they can become unreliable at higher field...
متن کاملWhole-Heart Coronary MRA
Background MRI was first reported to visualize the ostia of the coronary arteries in the late 1980’s (1, 2). Tremendous progress has been made in coronary MRA ever since. One of the milestones was the acquisition of k-space data in a segmented mode (3, 4), allowing collection of an entire data set within multiple heartbeats. Early coronary MRA studies used two-dimensional (2D) technique to acqu...
