چکیده
Abstract. In this paper we point out the existence of a remarkable nonlocal transformation between the damped harmonic oscillator and a modified Emden type nonlinear oscillator equation with linear forcing, ẍ+αxẋ+βx+γx = 0,which preserves the form of the time independent integral, conservative Hamiltonian and the equation of motion. Generalizing this transformation we prove the existence of nonstandard conservative Hamiltonian structure for a general class of damped nonlinear oscillators including Liénard type systems. Further, using the above Hamiltonian structure for a specific example namely the generalized modified Emden equation ẍ+αxẋ+βx = 0, where α, β and q are arbitrary parameters, the general solution is obtained through appropriate canonical transformations. We also present the conservative Hamiltonian structure of the damped Mathews-Lakshmanan oscillator equation.

In (quant–ph/0701141) Rajeev studied quantization of the damped simple harmonic oscillator and introduced a complex–valued Hamiltonian (which is normal). In this note we point out that the quantization is interpreted as a quantum mechanics with complex time. We also present a problem on quantization of classical control systems. In the paper [1] Rajeev studied a quantization of the damped simpl...

There is reason to believe that at small scales and low temperatures, quantum mechanical effects will play a role in dissipative systems which arise in solid state physics. References to and a brief discussion of various approaches to the quantisation of the damped harmonic oscillator, can be found in [1]. Although there exist successful and physically intuitive ways to deal with the quantisati...
متن کاملOn Wigner functions and a damped star product in dissipative phase-space quantum mechanics
Dito and Turrubiates recently introduced an interesting model of the dissipative quantum mechanics of a damped harmonic oscillator in phase space. Its key ingredient is a non-Hermitian deformation of the Moyal star product with the damping constant as deformation parameter. We compare the Dito-Turrubiates scheme with phase-space quantum mechanics (or deformation quantization) based on other sta...

In this paper we study to what extent the canonical equivalence and the identity of the geometric phases of dissipative and conservative linear oscillators, established in a preceeding paper, can be generalized to nonlinear ones. Considering first the 1-D quartic generalized oscillator we determine, by means of a perturbative time dependent technic of reduction to normal forms, the canonical tr...
