چکیده

[6]. ABSTRACT: The influence of different useful recording parameters in Fourier transform infrared spectra, on the signal-to-noise ratio is considered. We particularly studied the evolution of the signal to noise ratio with the spectral resolution, the transmission of different samples, the intensity of the background and the number of scans. This will allow an optimal extraction of spectral information of investigated samples. The noise was measured, through a surface determination, making use of the classical integrated software, and the signal evaluated from well calibrated samples. Results are in good agreement with a theoretical proposed relation.

A new technique using FT-IR micro-reflectance spectroscopy for measurement of water concentrations in melt inclusions

This paper presents a new technique to measure water concentrations in small volcanic glasses such as melt inclusions. The technique uses Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) micro-reflectance spectroscopy, and thus does not require a doubly polished sample. To enhance the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, a vacuum pump and a narrow-band mercury-cadmium-telluride (MCT) detector were introduced into th...

Adaptive Signal Detection in Auto-Regressive Interference with Gaussian Spectrum

A detector for the case of a radar target with known Doppler and unknown complex amplitude in complex Gaussian noise with unknown parameters has been derived. The detector assumes that the noise is an Auto-Regressive (AR) process with Gaussian autocorrelation function which is a suitable model for ground clutter in most scenarios involving airborne radars. The detector estimates the unknown...

Using a novel method for random noise reduction of seismic records

Random or incoherent noise is an important type of seismic noise, which can seriously affect the quality of the data. Therefore, decreasing the level of this category of noises is necessary for increasing the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of seismic records. Random noises and other events overlap each other in time domain, which makes it difficult to attenuate them from seismic records. In this r...

Performance and application of a new planar array infrared spectrograph operating in the mid-infrared (2000-975 cm(-1)) fingerprint region.

A no-moving-part planar array infrared spectrograph (PA-IR) equipped with a 256 x 256 mercury cadmium telluride (MCT) focal plane array has been designed and constructed. The performance of the instrument, whose frequency range extends from 2000-975 cm(-1), has been assessed in terms of resolution, bandwidth, and signal-to-noise ratio. The PA-IR spectrograph is able to record spectra with an 8....

Hadamard multiplexed fluorescence tomography.

Depth-resolved three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of fluorophore-tagged inclusions in fluorescence tomography (FT) poses a highly ill-conditioned problem as depth information must be extracted from boundary data. Due to the ill-posed nature of the FT inverse problem, noise and errors in the data can severely impair the accuracy of the 3D reconstructions. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of th...
