Measurement and Analysis of Acoustic Signal Generated by Partial Discharges in Insulation Oil

چکیده
This paper described the measurement of acoustic signal generated by partial discharge in insulation oil and analysis of their frequency spectrum to acquire information for diagnosing oil insulated transformers. We designed a decoupler and a low-noise amplifier to detect acoustic signals with high sensitivity. Also, three types of electrode system; the needle-plane, the plane-plane, the wire-wire were assembled to simulate partial discharge in insulation oil. The frequency ranges of analyzed acoustic signal were 60 kHz~270 kHz for the needle-plane, 45 kHz~250 kHz for the plane-plane, and 50 kHz~180 kHz for the wire-wire electrode system. Their main frequencies were 145 kHz, 118 kHz and 121 kHz, respectively. Classification of Acoustic Emission Based Partial Discharge in Oil Pressboard Insulation System Using Wavelet Analysis
Insulation used in transformer is mostly oil pressboard insulation. Insulation failure is one of the major causes of catastrophic failure of transformers. It is established that partial discharges (PD) cause insulation degradation and premature failure of insulation. Online monitoring of PDs can reduce the risk of catastrophic failure of transformers. There are different techniques of partial d...

Design of Converter transformer insulation is a major challenge. The insulation of these transformers is stressed by both AC and DC voltages. Particle contamination is one of the major problems in insulation structures, as they generate partial discharges leading it to major failure of insulation. Similarly corona discharges occur in transformer insulation. This partial discharge due to particl...

متن کاملDetection of Partial Discharges in Power Transformers using UHF PD Measurements and Acoustic Measurements
For examination and diagnostics of the insulation quality of high voltage devices the measurement of partial discharge (PD) is accomplished. The conventional PD measurement according to IEC60270 is in some situations not sensitive enough because of the high interference level in field. The development of an unconventional measuring method using electromagnetic probes is presented. These probes ...
