Relation algebras form cylindric algebras, II

چکیده
We prove, for each 4 ≤ n < ω, that SRaCAn+1 cannot be defined, using only finitely many first-order axioms, relative to SRaCAn. The construction also shows that for 5 ≤ n < ω, SRaCAn is not finitely axiomatisable over RAn, and that for 3 ≤ m < n < ω, SNrmCAn+1 is not finitely axiomatisable over SNrmCAn. In consequence, for a certain standard n-variable first-order proof system `m,n of m-variable formulas, there is no finite set of m-variable schemata whose m-variable instances, when added to `m,n as axioms, yield `m,n+1. Introductory Course on Relation Algebras, Finite-dimensional Cylindric Algebras, and Their Interconnections
These are notes for a short course on relation algebras, nite-dimensional cylindric algebras, and their interconnections, delivered at the Conference on Alge-Relation algebras (RA's) are closely linked to cylindric algebras (CA's) and polyadic equality algebras (PEA's), and yet in certain ways they are quite diierent. The links and diierences allow for constructive interaction between these sub...
متن کاملConnections between Relation Algebras and Cylindric Algebras
We give an informal description of a recursive representabilitypreserving reduction of relation algebras to cylindric algebras. The final publication is available at http://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007%2F978-3-319-24704-5_2
متن کاملConnections between cylindric algebras and relation algebras
We investigate the class SRaCAn for 4 n < ! and survey some recent results. We see that RAn | the subalgebras of relation algebras with relational bases | is too weak, and that the class of relation algebras whose canonical extension has an n-dimensional cylindric basis is too strong to deene the class. We introduce the notion of an n-dimensional hyperbasis and show that for any relation algebr...
متن کاملAxiomatising Various Classes of Relation and Cylindric Algebras
We outline a simple approach to axiomatising the class of representable relation algebras, using games. We discuss generalisations of the method to cylindric algebras, homogeneous and complete representations, and atom structures of relation algebras.
متن کاملRelation algebras form cylindric algebras, I
We characterise the class SRaCAn of subalgebras of relation algebra reducts of ndimensional cylindric algebras (for finite n ≥ 5) by the notion of a ‘hyper-basis’, analogous to the cylindric basis of Maddux, and by relativised representations. A corollary is that SRaCAn = SRa(CAn ∩ Crsn) = SRa(CAn ∩ Gn). We outline a game-theoretic approximation to the existence of a representation, and how to ...
متن کاملAtom Structures of Cylindric Algebras and Relation Algebras
For any finite n ≥ 3 there are two atomic n-dimensional cylindric algebras with the same atom structure, with one representable, the other, not. Hence, the complex algebra of the atom structure of a representable atomic cylindric algebra is not always representable, so that the class RCAn of representable n-dimensional cylindric algebras is not closed under completions. Further, it follows by a...
