approved: The purpose of t ~s~s to examineeinfluence of the immediate visual environment upon the sUbJect's responses to the Rorschach Inkblot Technique. There has been uncertainty about the nature of "projection" that occurs with the Rorschach. In other words, it is possible that the environment is contributing to the projection while being tested with the Rorschach. If this is the case, these influences may lead to an inaccurate diagnosis. SUbjects included 40 volunteer undergraduate students enrolled in psychology courses. Once the list of volunteers was complied, subjects were randomly assigned to one of two testing conditions. In Condition 1, sUbjects were tested with the Rorschach in a room containing a human anatomy chart. In Condition 2, sUbjects were tested with the Rorschach but had no exposure to the anatomical chart. It was hypothesized that individuals tested in a room containing an anatomical chart would have more content responses of human anatomy on the Rorschach protocol than a group that had no exposure to the chart. A 2 X 2 (Gender, male/female X Testing Condition, exposure/no exposure to anatomy chart) analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted. The results did not support these

Mu suppression and human movement responses to the Rorschach test.

Electroencephalographic μ wave suppression was investigated using all 10 static, ambiguous Rorschach stimuli. In an earlier study using four Rorschach stimuli, the two stimuli that elicited feelings of movement were associated with μ suppression. In this study, we replicated this relationship using all 10 Rorschach stimuli while overcoming a number of other earlier limitations. The results stro...

Analysis of the No Return Point Hypothesis: The Effect of Audio and Visual Stimuli in the Fast Movements Inhibition

Background. The No Return Point hypothesis is one of the research areas that has been done in line with the motor program. In this hypothesis emphasized an inability to inhibition move after its start by the motor program. Several factors are affecting the mechanism of this inhibition. Objectives. In this study, we investigate the effects of audio and visual stimuli on blocking quick moves to ...

Psychophysiologic responses to the Rorschach in PTSD patients, noncombat and combat controls.

While psychophysiologic studies of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have investigated the effects of trauma-related stimuli on arousal, none have explored the development of intrusive imagery and affect states in the absence of such specific cues. The present study compares autonomic arousal during PTSD-related Rorschach responses in PTSD veterans vs. combat controls and noncombat controls....

Affective Visual Stimuli: Characterization of the Picture Sequences Impacts by Means of Nonlinear Approaches

Introduction: The main objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of preceding pictorial stimulus on the emotional autonomic responses of the subsequent one. Methods: To this effect, physiological signals, including Electrocardiogram (ECG), Pulse Rate (PR), and Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) were collected. As these signals have random and chaotic nature, nonlinear dynamics...

The feeling of movement: EEG evidence for mirroring activity during the observations of static, ambiguous stimuli in the Rorschach cards.

The mirror neuron system (MNS) is considered the best explanation for the neural basis of embodied simulation. To date no study has investigated if it may be activated not only by actual but by the "feeling of movement". The Rorschach test cards were used to investigate evidence of EEG mu wave suppression at central areas, an index of MNS activity, since human movement responses (M) to the Rors...
