Ablation Studies of Enamel Tissue using Pulsed HF Laser
نویسنده
چکیده
We describe studies of the interaction of ≅400ns duration, multiline (2.6-3) μm HF laser with enamel tissue. The etch rate experiment showed an ablation threshold fluence of 47 Jcm but using the dispersion theory for optical coefficients of n and k for enamel at dominant laser lines, this value reduced to ≅25 Jcm making it more comparable with other investigations. The main mechanism of enamel ablation at 2.78μm where its absorption is very high thought to be due to microexplosive evaporation of water within enamel matrix ie. thermomechanical decomposition. Also, using photothermal deflection technique showed that at fluences below threshold a considerable amount of heat was emitted from the surface which was detected as a single compressive wave. The spectroscopic studies indicated that calcium was the main chemical element observed in plasma spanning from (420620)nm.

Data Fitting to Study Ablated Hard Dental Tissues by Nanosecond Laser Irradiation
Laser ablation of dental hard tissues is one of the most important laser applications in dentistry. Many works have reported the interaction of laser radiations with tooth material to optimize laser parameters such as wavelength, energy density, etc. This work has focused on determining the relationship between energy density and ablation thresholds using pulsed, 5 nanosecond, neodymium-doped y...

In this paper, the laser ablation process based on the irradiation of nanosecond pulsed lasers on a copper target surface in the presence of Helium gas is studied. The dynamical behaviors of the generated plasma in the helium gas and evaporated copper at the atmospheric pressure are examined using a laser pulse, laser wavelength of and intensity of 7×1010W/cm2. A one-dimensional thermal model ...

متن کاملUnderstanding the response of dental enamel to mid-infrared radiation
Human dental enamel has a porous mesostructure at the nanometre to micrometer scales that affects its thermal and mechanical properties relevant to laser treatment. We exploit finite element models to investigate the response of this mesostructured enamel to mid infrared lasers (CO2 at 10.6 μm and Er:YAG at 2.94 μm). Our models might easily be adapted to investigate ablation of other brittle co...
