The Hamilton–jacobi Theory and the Analogy between Classical and Quantum Mechanics

چکیده
We review here some conventional as well as less conventional aspects of the time-independent and time-dependent Hamilton-Jacobi (HJ) theory and of its connections with Quantum Mechanics. Less conventional aspects involve the HJ theory on the tangent bundle of a configuration manifold, the quantum HJ theory, HJ problems for general differential operators and the HJ problem for Lie groups. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification. 70H20, 70S05, 70FXX, 70HXX.

Moving Picture and Hamilton-Jacobi Theory in Quantum Mechanics
We propose a new picture, which we call the moving picture, in quantum mechanics. The Schrödinger equation in this picture is derived and its solution is examined. We also investigate the close relationship between the moving picture and the Hamilton-Jacobi theory in classical mechanics. [email protected] [email protected] 1
متن کاملOn Hamilton-Jacobi Theory as a Classical Root of Quantum Theory
This paper gives a technically elementary treatment of some aspects of HamiltonJacobi theory, especially in relation to the calculus of variations. The second half of the paper describes the application to geometric optics, the optico-mechanical analogy and the transition to quantum mechanics. Finally, I report recent work of Holland providing a Hamiltonian formulation of the pilot-wave theory....

متن کاملOn two-dimensional superpotentials: from classical Hamilton-Jacobi theory to 2D supersymmetric quantum mechanics
Abstract Superpotentials in N = 2 supersymmetric classical mechanics are no more than the Hamilton characteristic function of the Hamilton-Jacobi theory for the associated purely bosonic dynamical system. Modulo a global sign, there are several superpotentials ruling Hamilton-Jacobi separable supersymmetric systems, with a number of degrees of freedom greater than one. Here, we explore how supe...
متن کاملFrom Classical to Quantum Mechanics through Optics
According to Arnold Sommerfeld mechanics is “the backbone of mathematical physics”; it is a highly elaborated theory emerging from Newton’s laws which, in turn, summarize in precise form the whole body of experience. Classical mechanics describes with great precision the motion of macroscopic bodies, including astronomical bodies, except when velocities and masses involved are excessively large...
