Undescended and Maldescended Testes

چکیده
Retractile testes [1] Prepubertal boys can have an exaggerated cremasteric reflex. The testis may retract out of the scrotum in the cold, on examination, on excitement or on physical activity. It is normal and will descend when relaxed and warm, or it can be manipulated back into the scrotum. Retractile testes do not need any treatment but do need close follow-up until puberty, as they can become ascendant. Retractile testes have an increased risk of becoming an ascending or acquired undescended testis.

متن کاملCharacteristics of cryptic/ectopic and contralateral scrotal testes in dogs between 1 and 2 years of age.
Testicular malposition represents a common developmental genital defect in dogs and can affect one or both testes. In both humans and dogs, unilateral cryptorchism is more frequently detected and thought to be the expression of a genetic abnormality affecting both the undescended and scrotal testis. In the dog, there is evidence of degenerative processes affecting the maldescended testis. Howev...
متن کاملAnti-Müllerian hormone in men with normal and reduced sperm concentration and men with maldescended testes.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) in well-characterized men with normal and reduced sperm concentration and in men with a history of or persistent maldescended testes as a possible clinical marker of male factor infertility and/or maldescended testes. DESIGN Retrospective analysis of 199 men selected from our database (Androbase). SETTING The university-based Institut...
متن کاملTriorchidism: A Rare Genitourinary Abnormality
Polyorchidism is an extremely rare congenital anomaly which refers to the presence of more than two testicles. There are very few reports of triorchidism in a 2 year old child. Polyorchidism is usually discovered incidentally. The most common anomalies associated with polyorchidism are inguinal hernia (30%), maldescended testis (15% to 30%), testicular torsion (13%) and hydrocele (9%). A 2-year...
متن کاملA study of cryptorchidism. III: The histochemistry of complex carbohydrates in the testes of cryptorchid patients.
The complex carbohydrates in the undescended and contralateral scrotal testes of patients with cryptorchidism, were examined by light microscopic histochemical methods, in comparison with those of normal testes. In the undescended testes, histochemical reactions for acidic and neutral complex carbohydrates were apparently weaker than in the normal testes, especially pronounced in the seminifero...
