Left Sided Gastroschisis With Limb Abnormalities
نویسنده
چکیده
Gastroschisis represents herniation of abdominal contents through a paramedian fullthickness abdominal wall fusion defect without involving the umbilical cord. Evisceration, usually, contains only intestinal loops and not covered by membrane unlike in Omphalocele. Gastroschisis with other serious birth defects is unusual. Neonates with Gastroschisis have better prognosis than those with an Omphalocele. Very rarely gastroschisis is associated with herniation of major viscus and their presence makes the prognosis worst. This is a rare case because of Left sided Gastroschisis with evisceration of major viscera and association of Left side upper limb abnormality and a duplicate limb.

Left-sided gastroschisis with placenta findings: case report and literature review.
Gastroschisis is a congenital abdominal-wall defect that typically occurs to the right of the umbilicus. Only twenty-one cases of left-sided gastroschisis have been described in the literature. Here we report a large left-sided gastroschisis with pulmonary hypoplasia, scoliosis, ventricular septal defect and absence of gallbladder. Section of placental membranes revealed vacuolization of the am...

Gastroschisis is often found together with other extra intestinal conditions such as limb, spine, cardiac, central nervous system and genitourinary abnormalities. There are reports of its association with young maternal age. The cases presented here highlight the association of gastroschisis with limbs anomalies and young maternal age.

Background: VACTERL association is usually a sporadic disorder, the possible etiologies of which have been proposed as familial as well as multiple genetic and environmental factors. VACTERL association usually consists of at least three of the core features of vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, tracheoesophageal fistula, renal anomalies, and limb abnormalities. Vertebral anomali...
