Burkard 7 Day Recording Volumetric Spore Sampler

چکیده
STANDARD OF REFERENCE Built and developed with the assistance of scientists closely associated with problems relating to airborne particles such as fungus spores and pollens, the sampler has proved to be a standard of reference throughout the world. Although the instrument compares closely to the trap described by Hirst in 1952 (Ann app. Biol 39 pp. 257-265) its performance has been enhanced by the use of interchangeable orifices to improve the trapping efficiency for particles in the range 1-10μm diameter.

Relative efficiencies of the Burkard 7-Day, Rotorod and Burkard Personal Samplers for Poaceae and Urticaceae pollen under field conditions.
INTRODUCTION In aerobiological studies it is often necessary to compare concentration data recorded with different models of sampling instrument. Sampler efficiency typically varies from device to device, and depends on the target aerosol and local atmospheric conditions. To account for these differences inter-sampler correction factors may be applied, however for many pollen samplers and polle...
متن کاملEffect of sampling height on the concentration of airborne fungal spores.
BACKGROUND Spores of many fungal species have been documented as important aeroallergens. Airborne fungal spores are commonly collected from the outdoor air at the rooftop level of high buildings; however, human exposure usually occurs nearer to the ground. It is necessary to estimate the concentration of airborne fungal spores at the human breathing level to evaluate the actual human exposure ...
متن کاملComparative Particle Recoveries by the Retracting Rotorod, Rotoslide and Burkard Spore Trap Sampling in a Compact Array
An array comprising 4 intermittent (retracting) rotorods, 3 ("swingshield") rotoslides and one Burkard (Hirst) automatic volumetric spore trap was operated on an urban rooftop during 70 periods of 9, 15 or 24 hours in late summer. Standard sampling procedures were utilized and recoveries of pollens as well as spores of Alternaria, Epicoccum, Pithomyces and Ganoderma species compared. Difference...
متن کاملInvestigation of the diurnal pattern of the vertical distribution of pollen in the lower troposphere using LIDAR
The diurnal pattern of the vertical distribution of biogenic pollen in the lower troposphere was investigated by LIDAR. Meteorological data were taken at the ground. Pollen concentrations were measured at the surface using a Burkard 7-day-recording volumetric spore sampler. Aerosol extinction coefficients and depolarization ratios at 532 nm were obtained from LIDAR measurements in spring (4 May...
متن کاملPreliminary studies on the effect of the Burkard alternate orifice on airborne fungal spore concentrations
The Burkard 7-day spore trap with standard orifice is commonly used by researchers in sampling outdoor air. The alternate orifice is reported to have higher efficiency in collecting small airborne fungal spores; however, no previous studies compared Burkard samplers with different orifices. This study was conducted to study the effect of the alternate orifice on the concentration of airborne fu...
