Pancreatic cystic Lesions

چکیده
• Objective: To review the diagnosis and management of pancreatic cystic lesions. • Methods: Narrative review of the literature. • Results: Pancreatic cystic lesions are clinically relevant as some are precursor lesions to pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Mucinous cystic neoplasms and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms are 2 commonly encountered pre-cancerous pancreatic cysts. Many cysts are identified incidentally due to frequent use of high-resolution CT and MRI imaging technology. Proposed diagnostic and management algorithms exist to guide clinical practice but are limited by a lack of evidence and discordance among various guidelines. New cyst fluid biomarkers are under development to diagnose cyst types and risk of cancer. • Conclusion: Pancreatic cysts are increasingly encountered in clinical practice and represent a growing problem. Diagnostic and management algorithms are available to assist practice but are limited by the available evidence. A multidisciplinary approach is recom-

Endoscopic ultrasound for the evaluation of cystic lesions of the pancreas.
Although the exact prevalence of cystic pancreatic lesions is unknown, it is estimated to be around 1% of the general population based on large scale observational imaging studies [1]. While cystic pancreatic lesions are increasingly diagnosed due to the widespread use of cross-sectional imaging modalities like computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), it is not known if th...

The present study aimed to compare two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) for the assessment of pancreatic cystic lesions. Between February 2009 and December 2011, 35 patients that had been diagnosed with pancreatic cystic lesions, which was confirmed by surgery and pathology, underwent pre-operative 2D or 3D MRCP for pre-operative eva...

As cross-sectional imaging has become more common, there has been a marked increase in the incidental detection of cystic pancreatic lesions. It is estimated that more than a third of these are found in asymptomatic patients. Although knowledge of the natural history of cystic lesions is incomplete at this time, it is known that some cystic pancreatic lesions, including pseudocysts and serous c...
متن کاملApplication of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound in Cystic Pancreatic Lesions Using a Simplified Classification Diagnostic Criterion
Objective. Classification diagnosis was performed for cystic pancreatic lesions using ultrasound (US) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) to explore the diagnostic value of CEUS by comparison with enhanced CT. Methods. Sixty-four cases with cystic pancreatic lesions were included in this study. The cystic lesions of pancreas were classified into four types by US, CEUS, and CT: type I uniloc...
متن کاملCystic lesions of the pancreas.
Different types of benign or malignant cystic lesions can be observed in the pancreas. Pancreatic cystic lesions are classified under pathology terms into simple retention cysts, pseudocysts and cystic neoplasms. Mucinous cystic neoplasm is a frequent type of cystic neoplasm and has a malignant potential. Serous cystadenoma follows in frequency and is usually benign. Intraductal papillary mucin...

INTRODUCTION Pancreatic cysts are now being encountered by primary and specialty care physicians with ever increasing frequency due to the widespread use of high quality cross-sectional imaging (1,2). The majority of these cystic lesions are incidental asymptomatic findings, and therefore can present both diagnostic and therapeutic dilemmas. The differential diagnosis of cystic pancreatic lesio...
