To the Editor, With this letter we provide an update on a case of eumycetoma caused by Madurella mycetomatis in a mare that we previously reported on [1]. The mare was euthanized in May 2013 at age 9 years following a case of acute colic. Throughout her life, the mare foaled three times and had one miscarriage. During the 6 years between the first diagnosis and euthanasia, abundant granulation tissue developed in the affected area (Fig. 1), but the lesion remained localized. The lesion seemed to be painless, although mobility was encumbered by the tissue mass that developed over the years. Following the owner’s request, only the affected leg was submitted for pathological and histopathological examination.
