چکیده

The source of information about the state of our environment can be both the abiotic part of the environment (water, soil, air) and samples of the biotic part, including tissues and body fluids of humans, who are continuously exposed to a wide spectrum of xenobiotic chemicals. The investigation of human body fluids (mainly blood and urine) can be a useful and interesting way to obtain information about the state of the environment. However, in order to examine the composition of physiological fluids such as urine or blood, collected samples have to be pretreated prior to final determination, because they have a very complex matrix, precluding direct determination of analytes by any of the available analytical methods. This paper is a review of the literature regarding: analyte isolation and/or enrichment techniques from samples of human urine prior to their final deter-

Spectrophotometric Multicomponent Analysis of Ternary and Quaternary Drug Mixtures in Human Urine Samples by Analyzing First-order Data

A new method was developed for the spectral resolution by further determination of three- and  four-component  mixtures  of  drugs in urine samples through  the complementary application of multivariate curve resolution-alternating least squares with correlation  constraint. In the current study, a simple method was proposed to construct a calibration set for the mixture of drugs in the p...

Analysis of Drugs in Unconventional Samples.

Forensic scientists have long detected the presence of drugs in biological materials using body fluids such as urine, blood, and/or tissues. In recent years, remarkable advances in sensitive analytical techniques have prompted the analysis of drugs in unconventional biological samples such as hair, nail, saliva, and sweat. These samples are easily collected, although drug levels are often lower...

Inorganic, organic, and total mercury in blood and urine: cold vapor analysis with automated flow injection sample delivery.

A cold vapor atomic absorption technique for blood or urine mercury analysis that uses persulfate oxidation to prepare samples for total mercury analysis and acid permanganate oxidation to prepare samples for inorganic mercury analysis is described. The linearity of the procedures ranged from 0.5 to 25 micrograms/L. Precision ranged from 20% at 1 microgram/L to 7% at 20 micrograms/L. Documentat...

Development of miniaturized hollow-fiber assisted liquid-phase microextraction with in situ acyl derivatization followed by GC-MS for the determination of benzophenones in human urine samples.

A simple and highly sensitive method that involves miniaturized hollow fiber assisted liquid-phase microextraction (HF-LPME) with in situ acyl derivatization and GC-MS was developed for the determination of benzophenone (BP) and related compounds in human urine samples. The limits of detection (S/N = 3) and quantification (S/N > 10) of BPs in human urine samples are 0.01 to 0.05 and 0.05 to 0.2...

Comments on Delanghe and Joyner's editorial "testing for recombinant human erythropoietin". Preanalytical and analytical issues in indirect hematological testing.

TO THE EDITOR: In their recent editorial on the disappointing disagreement between two World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)-accredited laboratories evaluating samples for detecting recombinant human erythropoietin (Epo) in urine, Delanghe and Joyner (4) concluded that blood-based indirect Epo tests offer an interesting alternative (2). This is ideally true, considering that the urine test is proven ...
