Superconductivity and the new Fe Based Superconductors

چکیده
The Imperial College group has a long-established programme on superconductivity, going back to before the discovery of the high temperature superconductors (HTS) in 1986, evolving from vortex physics, superconducting critical current density and distribution of critical current in wires and tapes for power transmission, to more microscopic aspects and other interests such as dc metamaterials (so called invisibility cloaking at dc). Our wide research portfolio has stimulated the development of a suite of novel specialised experimental techniques that are applicable to a range of material classes including superconductors.

Understanding Doping, Vacancy, Lattice Stability, and Superconductivity in KxFe2− ySe2
Metal-intercalated iron selenides are a class of superconductors that have received much attention but are less understood in comparison with their FeAs-based counterparts. Here, the controversial issues such as Fe vacancy, the real phase responsible for superconductivity, and lattice stability have been addressed based on first-principles calculations. New insights into the distinct features i...
متن کاملPressure Induced Enhancement of Superconductivity in LaRu2P2
To explore new superconductors beyond the copper-based and iron-based systems is very important. The Ru element locates just below the Fe in the periodic table and behaves like the Fe in many ways. One of the common thread to induce high temperature superconductivity is to introduce moderate correlation into the system. In this paper, we report the significant enhancement of superconducting tra...
متن کاملSuperconductivity in Fe and As based compounds: A bridge between MgB2 and cuprates
By interpreting various experimental data for the new high temperature FeAs type superconductors in terms of lattice mediated multigap superconductivity, it is shown that these systems strongly resemble MgB2, however, with the distinction that local polaronic lattice effects exist. This fact establishes a connection to cuprate high temperature superconductors where polaron formation is essentia...
متن کاملFluctuating Charge Order: A Universal Phenomenon in Unconventional Superconductivity?
Unconventional superconductors are characterized by various competing ordering phenomena in the normal state, such as antiferromagnetism, charge order, orbital order or nematicity. According to a widespread view, antiferromagnetic fluctuations are the dominant ordering phenomenon in cuprates and Fe based superconductors and are responsible for electron pairing. In contrast, charge order is beli...
متن کاملManifesto for a higher Tc
The 2008 discovery of superconductivity in Fe-based pnictides (compounds of the elements from Group V: N, P, As, Sb, Bi) with transition temperatures Tc reaching almost 60 K was, arguably, among the most significant breakthroughs in condensedmatter physics during the past decade1. The excitement was enormous and so were the efforts — the amount of data obtained for Fe-pnictides over the previou...
