چکیده

Ectopic valvular ossification during the course of degenerative valve disease is a relatively rare event. The presence of lamellar bone tissue in human cardiac valve was first documented histologically by Rosenstein over a century ago (1). The frequency of ossification in surgically excised native cardiac valves reported in three large retrospective analyses was 13% (aortic and mitral valves) (2), 10.9% (aortic and mitral valves) (3), and 4.4% (aortic valves) (4), while the prevalent pathology calcification was found in over 80% of valves. Although calcification occurs frequently in implanted valve homografts, advanced ectopic ossification has not been reported thus far. Herein is presented a case where, for the first time, mature lamellar bone with hematopoietic elements was identified in an aortic valve homograft.

Roles of Lissencephaly Gene, LIS1, in Regulating Cytoplasmic Dynein Functions: a Dissertation

Spontaneous mutations in the human LIS 1 gene are responsible for Type I lissencephaly (" smooth brain ). The distribution of neurons within the cerebral cortex of lissencephalic children appears randomized, probably owing to a defect in neuronal migration during early development. LIS 1 has been implicated in the dynein pathway by genetic analyses in fungi. We previously reported that the vert...

lis-1 is required for dynein-dependent cell division processes in C. elegans embryos.

We investigated the role of the evolutionarily conserved protein Lis1 in cell division processes of Caenorhabditis elegans embryos. We identified apparent null alleles of lis-1, which result in defects identical to those observed after inactivation of the dynein heavy chain dhc-1, including defects in centrosome separation and spindle assembly. We raised antibodies against LIS-1 and generated t...

Effects of aminopeptidase P inhibition on kinin-mediated vasodepressor responses.

We studied in anesthetized rats whether aminopeptidase P (AMP) may be involved in bradykinin (BK) metabolism and responses. For this we inhibited AMP with the specific inhibitor apstatin (Aps). Studies were done with Aps alone or together with the angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor lisinopril (Lis). Aps increased the vasodepressor response to an intravenous bolus of BK (400 ng/kg): vehicle...

Efficacy and Safety of Biosimilar SAR342434 Insulin Lispro in Adults with Type 2 Diabetes, Also Using Insulin Glargine: SORELLA 2 Study

BACKGROUND SAR342434 (SAR-Lis) is a biosimilar (follow-on) of insulin lispro (U100; Humalog®; Ly-Lis). This study aimed to show similar efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of SAR-Lis versus Ly-Lis in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) treated with multiple daily injections, while using insulin glargine (GLA-100; Lantus®) as basal insulin. METHODS SORELLA 2 was a 6-month, ran...
