چکیده

The use of low cost, locally available and eco-friendly adsorbents has been investigated as an ideal alternative to the current expensive methods of removing dyes from wastewater. This study investigates the potential use of activated carbon prepared from the Annona squmosa seed for the removal of methylene blue (MB) , methyl red (MR) and malachite green (MG) dyes from simulated wastewater. Adsorption of MB, MR and MG dyes on the Annona squmosa seed showed highest values at around pH 7.0, and followed second –order kinetic with intraparticle diffusion as one of the rate determining steps. The adsorption-equilibrium was represented with Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushekevich and Tempkin isotherms. Activated carbon developed from the Annona squmosa seed can be an attractive option for dyes removal from diluted industrial effluents.

Adsorption of Phenolic Compounds onto the Activated Carbon Synthesized from Pulp and Paper Mill Sludge: Equilibrium Isotherm, Kinetics, Thermodynamics and Mechanism Studies

A new activated carbon was produced from pulp and paper mill sludge as a low cost precursor via chemical activation by zinc chloride. The activated carbon was successfully used for the adsorption of phenol and two of its derivatives, i.e. 2-chlorophenol and 4-nitrophenol from aqueous solutions. The characterization of the prepared activated carbon demonstrated high textural properties for the s...

Investigation of effective parameters on adsorption of amoxicillin from aqueous medium onto activated carbon

In this study, the adsorption of amoxicillin onto activated carbon was investigated. The effect of particle size and the effluent flow rate was discussed as well as the kinetics and isotherm of adsorption equilibrium. The isotherm equilibrium studies showed that the Langmuir model was appropriate for describing the adsorption equilibrium of amoxicillin onto the activated carbon. Furthermore, th...
