Bronchogenic cyst in the interatrial septum with a single persistent left superior vena cava.

چکیده
Bronchogenic cysts are classified as a type of congenital foregut cyst. They are usually extrapulmonary and occur mostly along the tracheobronchial tree. Intracardiac bronchogenic cysts are very rare. As far as we know, only 3 cases have been reported previously. This paper presents a unique case of a 70-year-old male who was diagnosed with a bronchogenic cyst in the interatrial septum with a concomitant persistent left superior vena cava. He underwent successful complete excision of the cyst under cardiopulmonary bypass and enjoyed an uneventful life with normal sinus rhythm during the 1-year follow-up. The relevant literature is reviewed and an explanation for the embryogenesis of the bronchogenic cyst in such a peculiar location is proposed.

Coronary sinus atrial septal defect without persistent left superior vena cava: Three-dimensional imaging of a rare defect
Coronary sinus defects refer to interatrial communications that lie out of the confines of the atrial septum and leads from left to right shunt through the ostium of the coronary sinus. When associated with persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC), mild systemic desaturation may occur depending on the extent of unroofing of the coronary sinus. Isolated defects without PLSVC are rare. Three-di...
متن کاملCor triloculare biventriculare with left superior vena cava.
Cor triloculare biventriculare is a rare congenital malformation of the heart in which there is a complete absence of the atrial septum. It is usually associated with other anomalies like complete atrioventricular canal defect, polysplenic syndrome, isolated dextrocardia, Ellis-van Creveld syndrome, or persistent left superior vena cava. We report a case of a stillborn male foetus of 35 weeks g...
متن کاملAnomalous Inferior Vena Cava Draining into the Left Atrium Associated with Intact Interatrial Septum and Multiple Pulmonary Arteriovenous Fistulae.
CONGENITAL cardiac defects involving the venous return to the heart and those affecting the partitioning of the atria should probably be considered as a group. The most commonly encountered and simplest to correct are defects in the interatrial septum of the ostium secundum type. Due to the lower resistance to emptying into the right ventricle from the two communicating atria, the shunt in such...

متن کاملAnomalous Connection of Right Pulmonary Veins to Superior Vena Cava with Interatrial Communications
an interatrial communication in an unusually cephalad location has been diagnosed at cardiac catheterization in 8 patients. These patients had the clinical features seen in patients who have atrial septal defects in the region of the fossa ovalis. Differentiation was accomplished by (1) the roentgenographic position of the catheter in the right superior pulmonary vein, (2) demonstration of an a...
