چکیده

Currently the lifespan of rotor blades is determined based on a conservative lifetime calculation. This leads to blades being discarded while they still possess a significant residual amount of flight-hours. Blade health monitoring systems are desired to actively track the strains in the blade thereby drastically extending the technical life expectancy. A major drawback is in the need for an electrical infrastructure to transmit all the signals to and from the rotor hub to aircraft body. It would be advantageous if the required power could be generated locally. Within the European Clean Sky project vibration-based power harvesting is chosen as a solution to powering in-blade health monitoring systems. In this paper a new power harvesting application is developed and simulated. Local generation of power will allow for a ‘plug and play’ rotor blade and signals may be logged or transmitted wirelessly to the body of the aircraft. Examples are the blade strains, hinge forces, vibrations

Coupled Flap-Lag-Torsional Vibration Analysis of Pre-twisted Non-uniform Helicopter Blades

An approximate numerical mthod is presented for analysis and determination of modal characteristics in straight, pretwisted non-unifom helicopter blades. The analysis considers the coupled flapwise bending (out of plane), chordwise bending (in plane), and torsion vibration of both rotating and non-rotating blades. The proposed method is based on the integral expansion of Green functions (struct...

Development of an Avionics System for Flight Data Collection of an UAV Helicopter

In this present work, the development of an avionics system for flight data collection of a Raptor 30 V2 is carried out. For the data acquisition both onground and onboard avionics systems are developed for testing of a small-scale Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) helicopter. The onboard avionics record the helicopter state outputs namely accelerations, angular rates and Euler angles, in real time...

Feasibility Study of the Electromagnetic Damper for Cable Structures Using Real-Time Hybrid Simulation

Cable structure is a major component of long-span bridges, such as cable-stayed and suspension bridges, and it transfers the main loads of bridges to the pylons. As these cable structures are exposed to continuous external loads, such as vehicle and wind loads, vibration control and continuous monitoring of the cable are required. In this study, an electromagnetic (EM) damper was designed and f...
