چکیده

The analytical modelling of a condition monitoring for a system which is subject to degradation over time is considered. The system condition can be observed at discrete times by means of imperfect inspections. In addition to the critical threshold, for each time point of inspection a replacement threshold is introduced. The decision rule when checking system suitability for use in the upcoming time interval is analysed. The analytical equations for the probabilities of correct and incorrect decisions when checking system suitability are derived. The system operation process is analysed in an infinite time interval. Expressions are derived for determining a posteriori operational reliability indicators. A specific deterioration process is used to illustrate the proposed general expressions for the probabilities of correct and incorrect decisions and a posteriori operational reliability. Numerical examples illustrate the efficiency of the proposed approach.

Harnessing Enforcement Leverage at the Border to Minimize Biological Risk from International Live Species Trade

Allocating inspection resources over a diverse set of imports to prevent entry of plant pests and pathogens presents a substantial policy design challenge. We model inspections of live plant imports and producer responses to inspections using a “state-dependent” monitoring and enforcement model. We capture exporter abatement response to a set of feasible inspection policies from the regulator. ...

Optimum Maintenance Policy of a Periodically Inspected System under Imperfect Repair

This paper deals with the maintenance policy of a system subject to periodical inspections aimed at detecting the occurrence of failures. After the first N−1 failure, the system undergoes an imperfect repair that brings the system back to the operating condition while the Nth failure is followed by a perfect repair restoring the unit to an as-good-as-new condition. The limiting average availabi...

Perfect Versus Imperfect Monitoring in Repeated Games

We show that perfect monitoring is not necessarily the optimal monitoring technology in repeated games, unless players are both patient and have access to a mediator who can condition her recommendations on the entire history of actions and recommendations. This claim follows from three results. First, players can be better o¤ with unmediated imperfect (public or private) monitoring than with m...

Block Inspection Policy Model with Imperfect Inspections for Multi-unit Systems

In this paper, the authors’ research work is focused on imperfect inspection policy investigation, when not all defects are identified during inspection action performance and probability of defect identification is not a constant variable. They are interested in Block Inspection Policy performance for multi-unit systems, the maintenance policy which is one of the most commonly used in practice...

Condition Based Maintenance of Periodically Inspected Systems

Condition based maintenance (CBM) is a powerful tool for improvement of system reliability and reduction of system downtime. This research considers CBM under which the system state is periodically observed with or without observational error, and maintenance is imperfect. System availability is maximized by determining the optimal maintenance threshold and the time interval between consecutive...
