چکیده

A software organization of a new circuit simulator, SAMOC (Switchedcapacitor Analysis of MOs Circuit) is presented in this paper. SAMOC employs extremely simplified, piecewise linear, resistive models to represent the semiconductor devices such as MOS transistors and ideal diodes in the simulated circuits. SAMOC also supports ideal switches and ideal capacitors for analyzing switched-capacitor networks, which are a weak point in a SPICE simulation. In order to improve the circuit simulation efficiency, circuit partitioning via circuit block extraction is employed by SAMOC. While reading specified devices a posterior-prior relationship is established between each two blocks. SAMOC then creates a block directed graph called signal-block diagram, which can set circuit blocks order for analysis. The DC analysis is accomplished by analyzing all circuit blocks in the order set by the signal-block diagram. An event driven, dynamic simulation, induced by changing the inputs or the internal signals, is performed on the blocks in the path of the signal propagation.

High Speed Sample and Hold Circuits

Introduction: Sample-and-hold (S/H) is an important analog building block with many applications, including analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and switched-capacitor filters. The function of the S/H circuit is to sample an analog input signal and hold this value over a certain length of time for subsequent processing. Taking advantages of the excellent properties of MOS capacitors and switches...

Design of Track-and-hold Amplifier and Mulitiplying Digital to Analog Converter

This chapter presents the design of the track-and-hold and multiplying digital-to-analog converter functional blocks. They are realized by Switched Capacitors (SC) circuits. Typical SC circuit stage consists of sampling capacitors and Metal Oxide Semiconductor (MOS) switches which turn on and off at the clock rate to store the input signal (charge) on the sampling capacitors and subsequently tr...

Design of power-efficient adiabatic charging circuit in 0.18μm CMOS technology

In energy supply applications for low-power sensors, there are cases where energy should be transmitted from a low-power battery to an output stage load capacitor. This paper presents an adiabatic charging circuit with a parallel switches approach that connects to a low-power battery and charges the load capacitor using a buck converter which operates in continuous conduction mode (CCM). A gate...

Circuit Performance Degradation of Switched-Capacitor Circuit with Bootstrapped Switch Technique due to Gate-Oxide Overstress in a 130-nm CMOS Process

The effect of MOSFET gate-oxide reliability on MOS switch with bootstrapped technique is investigated with the switched-capacitor circuit in a 130-nm CMOS process. The sample-and-hold amplifier with the openloop configuration is used to verify the impact of MOS switch gate-oxide reliability on the switched-capacitor circuit. After overstress on the MOS switch of sampleand-hold amplifier, the ci...

A Near 1-V Operational, 0.18-µm CMOS Passive Sigma-Delta Modulator with 77 dB of Dyanamic Range

A low-voltage operational capability near 1 V along with low noise and distortion characteristics have been realized in a passive sigma-delta modulator. To achieve low-voltage operation, the dc voltage in signal paths in the switched-capacitor-filter section was set to be 0.2 V so that sufficient gate-to-source voltages were obtained for metal-oxidesemiconductor (MOS) switches in signal paths w...
