New Results from the Search for Low-Mass Weakly Interacting Massive Particles with the CDMS Low Ionization Threshold Experiment.

چکیده
The CDMS low ionization threshold experiment (CDMSlite) uses cryogenic germanium detectors operated at a relatively high bias voltage to amplify the phonon signal in the search for weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). Results are presented from the second CDMSlite run with an exposure of 70 kg day, which reached an energy threshold for electron recoils as low as 56 eV. A fiducialization cut reduces backgrounds below those previously reported by CDMSlite. New parameter space for the WIMP-nucleon spin-independent cross section is excluded for WIMP masses between 1.6 and 5.5 GeV/c^{2}.

The Cryogenic Dark Matter Search Experiment, Results from the 2004 Campaign and Status of the Current Update
The CDMS II experiment uses Z-dependent Ionization Phonon (ZIP) detectors made of Germanium and Silicon to identify nuclear recoils from Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) with near complete event-by-event rejection of various radioactive backgrounds. In 2004 CDMS II operated 6 Ge ZIPs and 6 Si ZIPs. The 74.5 live days of operation gave after cuts 34 kg×d exposure for the Ge ZIPs and ...
متن کاملFrom CDMS to SuperCDMS
The Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) and SuperCDMS experiments seek hypothetical weakly-interacting, massive particles (WIMPs) that could account for the majority of matter in the Universe, by means of cryogenic germanium detectors. We provide an update on the status of the SuperCDMS experiment, and discuss the joint CDMS-EDELWEISS analysis.
متن کاملSearch for low-mass weakly interacting massive particles using voltage-assisted calorimetric ionization detection in the SuperCDMS experiment.
SuperCDMS is an experiment designed to directly detect weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs), a favored candidate for dark matter ubiquitous in the Universe. In this Letter, we present WIMP-search results using a calorimetric technique we call CDMSlite, which relies on voltage-assisted Luke-Neganov amplification of the ionization energy deposited by particle interactions. The data were c...
متن کاملResults and Status of the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search ( CDMS )
The Cryogenic Dark Matter Search experiment uses cooled germanium and silicon detectors for a direct search for weakly-interacting massive particles in our Galaxy. The novel detectors allow a high degree of background rejection by discriminating between electron and nuclear recoils through the simultaneous measurement of the energy deposited in phonons and ionization. Exposures on the order of ...
متن کاملDetector commissioning for the CDMS-II final run at the Soudan Underground Laboratory
CDMS-II uses detectors known as Z-sensitive ionization phonons (ZIPs) to search for weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs), a very promising candidate for the dark matter in the universe. The most recent data run utilized 12 ZIP detectors (six Ge and six Si) running for 1 2 year at the Soudan deep underground laboratory (780m below surface), resulting in the current world’s highest sensit...
