چکیده

Compressed Sensing (CS) is an emerging field based on the revelation that a small collection of linear projections of a sparse signal contains enough information for reconstruction. It is promising that CS can be utilized in environments where the signal acquisition process is extremely difficult or costly, e.g., a resource-constrained environment like the smartphone platform, or a band-limited environment like visual sensor network (VSNs). There are several challenges to perform sensing due to the characteristic of these platforms, including, for example, needing active user involvement, computational and storage limitations and lower transmission capabilities. This dissertation focuses on the study of CS in resource-constrained environments. First, we try to solve the problem on how to design sensing mechanisms that could better adapt to the resource-limited smartphone platform. We propose the compressed phone sensing (CPS) framework where two challenging issues are studied, the energy drainage issue due to continuous sensing which may impede the normal functionality of the smartphones and the requirement of active user inputs for data collection that may place a high burden on the user. Second, we propose a CS reconstruction algorithm to be used in VSNs for recovery of frames/images. An efficient algorithm, NonLocal Douglas-Rachford (NLDR), is developed. NLDR takes advantage of self-similarity in images using nonlocal means (NL) filtering. We further formulate the nonlocal estimation as the low-rank matrix approximation problem and solve the constrained optimization problem using DouglasRachford splitting method.

A Block-Wise random sampling approach: Compressed sensing problem

The focus of this paper is to consider the compressed sensing problem. It is stated that the compressed sensing theory, under certain conditions, helps relax the Nyquist sampling theory and takes smaller samples. One of the important tasks in this theory is to carefully design measurement matrix (sampling operator). Most existing methods in the literature attempt to optimize a randomly initiali...

Frames for compressed sensing using coherence

We give some new results on sparse signal recovery in the presence of noise, for weighted spaces. Traditionally, were used dictionaries that have the norm equal to 1, but, for random dictionaries this condition is rarely satised. Moreover, we give better estimations then the ones given recently by Cai, Wang and Xu.

Accelerating Magnetic Resonance Imaging through Compressed Sensing Theory in the Direction space-k

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive imaging method widely used in medical diagnosis. Data in MRI are obtained line-by-line within the K-space, where there are usually a great number of such lines. For this reason, magnetic resonance imaging is slow. MRI can be accelerated through several methods such as parallel imaging and compressed sensing, where a fraction of the K-space lines...

Distributed Compressed Sensing for Sensor Networks, Using p-thresholding

Distributed compressed sensing is the extension of compressed sampling (CS) to sensor networks. The idea is to design a CS joint decoding scheme at the base station which exploits the inter-sensor correlations, in order to recover the whole observations from very few number of random measurements per node. Here, the questions are about modeling the correlations, design of the joint recovery alg...

Fe b 20 09 Accelerating gradient projection methods for l 1 - constrained signal recovery by steplength selection rules

We propose a new gradient projection algorithm that compares favorably with the fastest algorithms available to date for l1-constrained sparse recovery from noisy data, both in the compressed sensing and inverse problem frameworks. The method exploits a line-search along the feasible direction and an adaptive steplength selection based on recent strategies for the alternation of the well-known ...
