چکیده

In this work, we present a registration framework for cardiac cine MRI (cMRI), tagged (tMRI) and delay-enhancement MRI (deMRI), where the two main issues to find an accurate alignment between these images have been taking into account: the presence of tags in tMRI and respiration artifacts in all sequences. A steerable pyramid image decomposition has been used for detagging purposes since it is suitable to extract high-order oriented structures by directional adaptive filtering. Shift correction of cMRI is achieved by firstly maximizing the similarity between the Long Axis and Short Axis cMRI. Subsequently, these shiftcorrected images are used as target images in a rigid registration procedure with their corresponding tMRI/deMRI in order to correct their shift. The proposed registration framework has been evaluated by 840 registration tests, considerably improving the alignment of the MR images (mean RMS error of 2.04mm vs. 5.44mm).

Registration of Remote Sensing Images with Steerable Pyramid Transform and Robust SIFT Features

This paper proposes an automatic registration technique based on steerable pyramid transform and robust shift invariant feature transform (SIFT) features, which can deal with the large variations of scale, rotation and illumination of the images. First, the steerable pyramid transform is used to the two input images and the sub-band images along certain orientations are obtained at each layer. ...

A Novel Subsampling Method for 3D Multimodality Medical Image Registration Based on Mutual Information

Mutual information (MI) is a widely used similarity metric for multimodality image registration. However, it involves an extremely high computational time especially when it is applied to volume images. Moreover, its robustness is affected by existence of local maxima. The multi-resolution pyramid approaches have been proposed to speed up the registration process and increase the accuracy of th...

Steerable Pyramid Filters for Selective Image Enhancement Applications

In this paper we describe a method we developed for selective detection and enhancement of image feature patterns. A set of directional basis filters were designed to detect the image features of interest, and a steerable pyramid transform [1,2] is used to generate a multiscale representation of the image features that has desirable shift and rotation invariance. By analyzing and selectively pr...

A Deformable Image Registration Algorithm Using NURBS

Non-rigid image registration is an interesting and challenging research work in medical image processing, computer vision and remote sensing fields. In order to increase the registration accuracy, this paper designs a composite registration algorithm of a rigid transform and free form deformation. Because NURBS (Non-uniform Rational B Spline) with a non-uniform grid has a higher registration pr...

An Improvement of Steerable Pyramid Denoising Method

The use of wavelets in denoising, seems to be an advantage in representing well the details. However, the edges are not so well preserved. Total variation technique has advantages over simple denoising techniques such as linear smoothing or median filtering, which reduce noise, but at the same time smooth away edges to a greater or lesser degree. In this paper, an efficient denoising method bas...
