چکیده
We present a measurement of the B-mode polarization power spectrum (the BB spectrum) from 100 deg2 of sky observed with SPTpol, a polarization-sensitive receiver currently installed on the South Pole Telescope. The observations used in this work were taken during 2012 and early 2013 and include data in spectral bands centered at 95 and 150 GHz. We report the BB spectrum in five bins in multipole space, spanning the range l 30

SPTpol: an instrument for CMB polarization measurements with the South Pole Telescope
SPTpol is a dual-frequency polarization-sensitive camera that was deployed on the 10-meter South Pole Telescope in January 2012. SPTpol will measure the polarization anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) on angular scales spanning an arcminute to several degrees. The polarization sensitivity of SPTpol will enable a detection of the CMB “B-mode” polarization from the detection of t...
متن کاملDetection of B-mode polarization in the cosmic microwave background with data from the South Pole Telescope.
Gravitational lensing of the cosmic microwave background generates a curl pattern in the observed polarization. This "B-mode" signal provides a measure of the projected mass distribution over the entire observable Universe and also acts as a contaminant for the measurement of primordial gravity-wave signals. In this Letter we present the first detection of gravitational lensing B modes, using f...
متن کاملThe Three-point Correlation Function for Spin-2 Fields
The three-point correlation function (3PCF) of the spin-2 fields, cosmic shear and microwave background polarization, is a statistical measure of non-Gaussian signals. At each vertex of a triangle, the shear field has two independent components. The resulting eight possible 3PCFs were recently investigated by Schneider & Lombardi (2002) and Zaldarriaga & Scoccimarro (2002). Using rotation and p...
متن کاملDasi Three-year Cosmic Microwave Background Polarization Results
We present the analysis of the complete 3-year data set obtained with the Degree Angular Scale Interferometer (DASI) polarization experiment, operating from the Amundsen-Scott South Pole research station. Additional data obtained at the end of the 2002 Austral winter and throughout the 2003 season were added to the data from which the first detection of polarization of the cosmic microwave back...
متن کاملBICEP2 I: DETECTION OF B-mode POLARIZATION AT DEGREE ANGULAR SCALES
We report results from the BICEP2 experiment, a Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) polarimeter specifically designed to search for the signal of inflationary gravitational waves in the B-mode power spectrum around `∼ 80. The telescope comprised a 26 cm aperture all-cold refracting optical system equipped with a focal plane of 512 antenna coupled transition edge sensor (TES) 150 GHz bolometers ea...
