چکیده

Antheraea mylitta produces tasar silk and is an endemic species of the Indian subcontinent. Populations of this species show a certain degree of phenotypic variability for which they are designated as ‘ecoraces’. Inorder to study the genetic variability in relation to the environment among Daba T.V and Andhra local the life history of two ecorace from hatching to egg laying stage and the cocoon characters were enumerated. Andhra local ecorace has exhibited superior qualities in fecundity, shell ratio, silkyield, filament length, reelability and denier whereas mothemergence, larvalweight, cocoonweight, shell weightand effective rate of rearing have been encouraging in Daba T.V.Thus the variations in the above characters could be attributed to the genetic variability between the two ecoraces rather than the environment influence as they are reared under similar environment.

Attacin gene sequence variations in different ecoraces of tasar silkworm Antheraea mylitta.

Attacin gene exists as paralogous conversion and is being used for identification of strain variations in insects based on the sequence variation. Hence, a study was undertaken to analyze the sequence variation of the attacin gene isoforms in the tasar silkworm Anthereae mylitta that exists in the form of different ecoraces depending upon the environment, food plant and location. Comparison of ...

Genetic analysis of Indian tasar silkmoth (Antheraea mylitta) populations

Indian tasar silkmoth, Antheraea mylitta is an economically important wild silkmoth species distributed across India. A number of morphologically and ethologically well-defined ecotypes are known for this species that differ in their primary food plant specificity. Most of these ecotypes do not interbreed in nature, but are able to produce offspring under captive conditions. Microsatellite mark...

Susceptibility of three Eco-races of tropical Tasar silkworm to Antheraea mylitta cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus (AmCPV)

Pathogenic infection in tasar silkworm, Antheraea mylitta Drury. is common and there is a breed specific response regarding tolerance. Observations reveal the possibility of differential response by haemocytes to microbial infection in different breeds. Hence, the susceptibility of three eco-races of tasar silkworm viz. Daba, Sarihan and Raily to Antheraea mylitta Cytoplasmic Polyhedrosis Virus...

Estimation of Levels of Biochemical Components and Excretory Products of Tropical Tasar Silkworm Anthereae Mylitta Drury (sukinda) under Induced Temperature Alterations

Studies on cold acclimation of insects including silkworms have shown significant variations in the levels of various biomolecules to cope with heat-shock. The present study has been carried out on cold-stressed 5th instar Sukinda T.V larvae to analyze the mortality rate, variations in the biomolecules and excretory products at varied durations. In this study, various biochemical assays have be...

Efficacy of 2% Bleaching Powder in Controlling Secondary Contamination of Pebrine Disease Intasar Silkworm Anthereae Mylitta Drury (daba T.v)

Pebrinedisease found to be highly virulent and harm the larval and cocoon characters of tropical tasar silkworm Antheraeamylitta Drury (Daba TV).Therefore an attempt has been made to evaluate the effect of 2% bleaching powder solution in controlling the pebrine disease attained through secondary contamination by studying larval and cocoon characters. In comparison with the healthy control (T1 b...
