Soc. 133: 499–512. 2006.–Currently, Pseudocymopterus comprises two species, P. montanus and P. longiradiatus. Pseudocymopterus montanus is highly variable morphologically and in the past was subdivided into several poorly defined taxa. Multivariate analyses of 235 specimens reflecting the morphological variability exhibited by these plants and representing populations from throughout the ranges of both species were conducted to examine morphological discontinuities in Pseudocymopterus. Multivariate analysis of variance and principal component analysis confirmed that most of the characters previously used to recognize taxa within the complex are highly variable and overlapping among putative taxa. While no clearly distinguished clusters were revealed on the plots of the first three principal components, groups corresponding to P. montanus and P. longiradiatus were weakly separated from each other. Discriminant analysis using the same set of specimens showed that P. montanus and P. longiradiatus can generally be distinguished using a set of characters. These results are consistent with recent molecular analyses that revealed DNA sequence differences between these taxa. We therefore propose that Pseudocymopterus continues to be treated as having two species, P. longiradiatus and P. montanus, with no infraspecific taxa.

Polyphyly of the spring-parsleys (Cymopterus): molecular and morphological evidence suggests complex relationships among the perennial endemic genera of western North American Apiaceae
Cladistic analyses of DNA sequences from the nuclear rDNA internal transcribed spacer region and cpDNA rps16 intron and, for a subset of taxa, the cpDNA trnF-trnL-trnT locus were carried out to evaluate the monophyly of Cymopterus and to ascertain its phylogenetic placement among the other perennial genera of Apiaceae (Umbelliferae) subfamily Apioideae endemic to western North America. To eluci...

Considerable controversy exists with regard to the proper delimitation of Cymopterus (Apiaceae subfamily Apioideae) and its relationship to the other perennial endemic umbellifers of western North America. Previous molecular systematic studies using nuclear (rDNA ITS) and, for subsets of taxa, plastid (rps16 intron and trnF-trnL-trnT) DNA sequences have revealed that the genus Cymopterus is pol...

Phylogenetic analyses of 159 DNA sequences from the nuclear rDNA internal transcribed spacer regionwere conducted to evaluate the monophyly of the herbaceous, perennial genera of Apiaceae subfamily Apioideae endemic to North America (north of Mexico) and to determine the relationships of those elements that currently comprise Cymopterus within the group. The results of a previous phylogenetic s...

Grammosciadium pterocarpum subsp. bilgilii and Grammosciadium pterocarpum subsp. sivasicum from Turkey are herein described as two new subspecies, and the species Grammosciadium schischkinii is synonymied under Grammosciadium pterocarpum subsp. pterocarpum. Quantitative variation of morphological and anatomical characters have been analysed to provide discriminative characters between the taxa ...

Coriander is an annual plant belonging to Apiaceae family that its yield is affected by drought stress. Three experiments (normal irrigation regime, sudden drought stress and gradual drought stress) were conducted according to a randomized complete block design with three replications in 2015 to introduce the most drought tolerant Iranian coriander ecotypes based on several economical traits, a...
