Biomarkers of hemodynamic stress and aortic stiffness post-STEMI: a cross-sectional analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods Fifty-four patients four months after acute STEMI were enrolled in this cross-sectional, single-center study. Nterminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), mid-regional pro-A-type natriuretic peptide (MR-proANP) and mid-regional pro-adrenomedullin (MR-proADM) levels were measured by established assays. Aortic stiffness was assessed by the measurement of pulse wave velocity using velocity-encoding, phase-contrast cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging.

Biomarkers of Hemodynamic Stress and Aortic Stiffness after STEMI: A Cross-Sectional Analysis
AIM Increased aortic stiffness might adversely affect cardiac structure, function, and perfusion. Release of biomarkers of hemodynamic stress is thought to be enhanced by these alterations. We aimed to evaluate the association between biomarkers of hemodynamic stress and aortic stiffness assessed at a chronic stage after ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). METHODS Fifty-four p...
متن کاملImpact of arterial cross-clamping during vascular surgery on arterial stiffness measured by the augmentation index and fractal dimension of arterial pressure
Arterial cross-clamping is a common strategy used in vascular surgery and its duration is an independent predictor of surgical outcomes. The impact of arterial cross-clamping on the viscoelastic properties of the arterial system and its underlying mechanisms still remain unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of arterial cross-clamping on arterial stiffness. A cross-sectional...
متن کاملCorrelation Between Aortic Valve Sclerosis and Coronary Artery Disease: A Cross - Sectional Study
Introduction: Aortic valve sclerosisis considered as a manifestation of coronary atherosclerosis. Recent studies demonstrated an association between aortic valve sclerosis and obstructive coronary artery disease. The purpose of this study was to evaluatethe correlation betweenaortic valve sclerosis andobstructive coronary artery disease and the extent of coronary artery disease in patients ho...
متن کاملAminoguanidine and aortic wall mechanics, structure, and composition in aged rats.
With aging, the aortic wall becomes stiffer. This could be because of changes in wall stress or composition. We investigated whether a specific change in wall composition, ie, accumulation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) on the extracellular matrix, is a major factor. We measured aortic mechanics, geometry, and composition in 3-, 10-, 15-, 20-, and 30-month-old inbred normotensive Wis...
متن کاملAortic stiffness is associated with vascular calcification and remodeling in a chronic kidney disease rat model.
Increased aortic pulse-wave velocity (PWV) reflects increased arterial stiffness and is a strong predictor of cardiovascular risk in chronic kidney disease (CKD). We examined functional and structural correlations among PWV, aortic calcification, and vascular remodeling in a rodent model of CKD, the Lewis polycystic kidney (LPK) rat. Hemodynamic parameters and beat-to-beat aortic PWV were recor...
