Senecio kuanshanensis (Asteraceae), a new species from southern Taiwan

چکیده
A new species of Asteraceae from Taiwan, Senecio kuanshanensis C.-I Peng & S.W. Chung, a distinct member of sect. Crociseris (Reichenb.) Hall. & Wohlf. ser. Nemorenses Gagnidze, is described and illustrated. Senecio kuanshanensis is apparently rare, presently known only from mountain ridges of Kuanshan, at (2,500-)3,000-3,300 m elevation in the southern part of the Central Mountain Range of Taiwan. In habit the new species somewhat resembles S. morrisonensis Hayata, an endemic congener from Taiwan, but it is clearly distinct in having longer peduncles (3-7 cm vs. 0.5-2[-3] cm), longer involucres (8-10 mm vs. 4.5-6 mm), longer corolla tube in the disc florets (4-5 mm vs. 3-3.5 mm), longer rays (9-14 mm vs. 5.5-7.2 mm) in the ray florets, and median cauline leaves that are deeply bipinnatipartite to tripinnatipartite (vs. serrate to coarsely dentate or deeply pinnately lobed).

متن کاملSenecio changii (Asteraceae: Senecioneae), a New Species from Sichuan, China
Senecio changii (Asteraceae: Senecioneae), a new species from Muli, Sichuan, southwestern China, is described. It is distinguished in Chinese Senecio s.s. by having lyrate-pinnatisect to pinnatisect leaves and a single terminal large discoid capitulum which is somewhat nodding. Evidence from floral micromorphology, karyology and molecular phylogenetic analyses based on the nuclear ITS/ETS seque...

Non-indigenous plants exhibit different attributes that make them aggressive competitors with indigenous plants and serious threats to biodiversity.Senecio madagascariensis (fireweed, Asteraceae), a native from southern Africa, is a strong competitor in agricultural activities and has toxic alkaloids that may result in high cattle mortality. In Brazil, this weed was collected for the first time...
متن کاملPhytotaxa 5: 31–46 (2010) The fate of Robinsonia (Asteraceae): sunk in Senecio, but still monophyletic?
Robinsonia is a genus of eight species and is endemic to the Juan Fernández Islands. Previous studies based on ITS phylogenies place Robinsonia deeply nested within Senecio, however its monophyly remains uncertain. In this paper, we use phylogenies reconstructed from plastid, ITS-ETS, and combined data to test its monophyly. Plastid phylogenies support Robinsonia as monophyletic, whereas ITS-ET...

Senecio asirensis Boulos & J.R.I. Wood (family: Asteraceae) is an endemic plant of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia found at a few places. The medicinal value of this plant is due to the presence of a variety of complex secondary metabolites. For the development of DNA barcode for this species the chloroplast spacer sequences rps16 and psbA-trnH were found more variable and effective. Among the various ...
