Polymer-polymer interactions

چکیده
Abstracf The successful development of multicomponent polymer systems generally requires careful control of polymer-polymer interactions since this is important for achieving useful mechanical properties, optically clear mixtures (miscibility), coupling of impact modifiers to a bnttle matrix, compatibilization of immiscible polymers, etc. Random copolymers offer a powerful tool for achieving the desired results since they permit adjustment of both the intermolecular interactions between the mixture components and the intramolecular interactions within components. In fact, random copolymers are more often found to be miscible with other polymers than are homopolymers because of this. Recent advances in the development of theoretical frameworks and experimental techniques for evaluating polymer-polymer interactions are described. A matrix of monomer unit pair interaction energies is being constructed which is useful for making predictions about interactions and phase, behavior in other blend systems.

Dispersing nanoparticles in a polymer matrix is intrinsically challenging due to unfavorable entropic interactions between the matrix and the nanoparticle. In this research dispersion of nanoparticles in polymer matrix was studied and the effect of dispersion on properties was investigated. The properties of polymer composite depend on the type, size, shape, concentration of nanoparticles, and ...

In this article, the influence of various vacancy defects on the Young’s modulus of carbon nanotube (CNT) - reinforcement polymer composite in the axial direction is investigated via a structural model in ANSYS software. Their high strength can be affected by the presence of defects in the nanotubes used as reinforcements in practical nanocomposites. Molecular structural mechanics (MSM)/finite ...
متن کاملPolymer-polymer miscibility
The theoretical and practical aspects of polymer-polymer miscibility in the solid amorphous state are reviewed. The polymers include homopolymers and both random and block copolymers. Although present theoretical treatments of polymer-polymer miscibility all contain the random mixing hypothesis and are thus not applicable to mixtures that involve specific interactions between the components, mo...

The authors investigated the polymer-mediated colloidal interactions in a good solvent wherein the particle size varies from that much smaller than the polymer radius of gyration up to macroscopic and the polymer concentration varies from that corresponding to a dilute solution to that close to a melt. At conditions directly accessible to molecular simulations, the theoretical predictions agree...
