First- and Second-Order Asymptotic Analysis with Applications in Quasiconvex Optimization

چکیده
We use asymptotic analysis to describe in amore systematic way the behavior at the infinity of functions in the convex and quasiconvex case. Starting from the formulae for the firstand second-order asymptotic function in the convex case, we introduce similar notions suitable for dealing with quasiconvex functions. Afterward, by using such notions, a class of quasiconvex vector mappings under which the image of a closed convex set is closed, is introduced; we characterize the nonemptiness and boundedness of the set of minimizers of any lsc quasiconvex function; finally, we also characterize boundedness from below, along lines, of any proper and lsc function.

Hermite-Hadamard inequality for geometrically quasiconvex functions on co-ordinates
In this paper we introduce the concept of geometrically quasiconvex functions on the co-ordinates and establish some Hermite-Hadamard type integral inequalities for functions defined on rectangles in the plane. Some inequalities for product of two geometrically quasiconvex functions on the co-ordinates are considered.
متن کاملOn Psi-conditional asymptotic stability of first order nonlinear matrix Lyapunov system
We provide necessary and sucient conditions for psi-conditional as-ymptotic stability of the solution of a linear matrix Lyapunov system and sucientconditions for psi -conditional asymptotic stability of the solution of a rst ordernon-linear matrix Lyapunov system X0 = A(t)X + XB(t) + F(t;X).
متن کاملA nonlinear second order field equation – similarity solutions and relation to a Bellmann-type equation - Applications to Maxwellian Molecules
In this paper Lie’s formalism is applied to deduce classes of solutions of a nonlinear partial differential equation (nPDE) of second order with quadratic nonlinearity. The equation has the meaning of a field equation appearing in the formulation of kinetic models. Similarity solutions and transformations are given in a most general form derived to the first time in terms of reciprocal Jacobian...
متن کاملOn the Second Order Behaviour of the Bootstrap of L_1 Regression Estimators
We consider the second-order asymptotic properties of the bootstrap of L_1 regression estimators by looking at the difference between the L_1 estimator and its first-order approximation, where the latter is the minimizer of a quadratic approximation to the L_1 objective function. It is shown that the bootstrap distribution of the normed difference does not converge (eit...
متن کاملQuasiconvex envelopes in nonlinear elasticity
We give several examples of modeling in nonlinear elasticity where a quasiconvexification procedure is needed. We first recall that the three-dimensional Saint Venant-Kirchhoff energy fails to be quasiconvex and that its quasiconvex envelope can be obtained by means of careful computations. Second, we turn to the mathematical derivation of slender structure models: an asymptotic procedure using...
