Exemplifying Subgroup Mining Results for Interactive Knowledge Refinement

چکیده
When intelligent systems are deployed into a real-world application, then the maintenance and the refinement of the knowledge are essential tasks. Many existing automatic knowledge refinement methods only provide limited control and clarification capabilities during the refinement process. In this paper, we present a novel user-guided approach for the refinement of knowledge bases using subgroup mining methods. Additionally, we describe a technique that helps the user to interpret the refinement recommendations proposed by the system.

Introspective Subgroup Analysis for Interactive Knowledge Refinement
When knowledge systems are deployed into a real-world application, then the maintenance and the refinement of the knowledge are essential tasks. Many existing automatic knowledge refinement methods only provide limited control and clarification capabilities during the refinement process. Furthermore, often assumptions about the correctness of the knowledge base and the cases are made. However, ...
متن کاملValidation of Mixed-structured Data Using Pattern Mining and Information Extraction
For large-scale data mining utilizing data from ubiquitous and mixed-structured data sources, the appropriate extraction and integration into a comprehensive data-warehouse is of prime importance. Then, appropriate methods for validation and potential refinement are essential. This paper presents an approach applying data mining and information extraction methods for data validation: We apply s...
متن کاملDeviation analysis
The two general data analytic questions of subgroup mining (B2.2) deal with deviations and associations (C5.2.3, C5.2.4). A deviation pattern describes a deviating behavior (distribution) of a target variable in a subgroup. Target variable and behavior type are selected by the analyst for an individual mining task, the deviating subgroups are determined by the mining method. Deviation patterns ...
متن کاملConceptual Knowledge Processing with Google
This paper introduces a tool for Conceptual Knowledge Processing with Google. The featured prototype, called FooCA, tries to combine the advantages of two research disciplines, Web Mining and Formal Concept Analysis (FCA). Web Mining techniques are used to preprocess search results retrieved via Google, presenting the formal context in an interactive cross table. A new formal context can be ite...
متن کاملKnowledge-Based Sampling for Subgroup Discovery
Subgroup discovery aims at finding interesting subsets of a classified example set that deviates from the overall distribution. The search is guided by a so-called utility function, trading the size of subsets (coverage) against their statistical unusualness. By choosing the utility function accordingly, subgroup discovery is well suited to find interesting rules with much smaller coverage and ...
