چکیده

In this paper, a type of symbol-level adaptive equalizer-based receiver is proposed for downlink multiple access interference (MAI) suppression in WCDMA cellular systems. This type of receiver does not need channel estimation, which is necessary in most other proposals, and hence has relative low complexity. After introducing the loop structure of the basic MAI suppression receiver, the paper further proposes a practical modification to improve performance in time-varying and low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) environments. This modified receiver is called precombining adaptive-order receiver. The performance enhancement owes to multipath pre-combining which increases and smoothes SNR variation of input signal and the adaptive order adjustment which optimizes the equalizer length in terms of channel conditions. The receiver structures are described and represented mathematically. The performances are evaluated by computer simulation and compared to each other as well as to current used Rake receiver . Chip Level Decision Feedback Equalizer for CDMA Downlink Channel

In most commercial wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA) systems, the transmitted signal in the downlink channel is spread by orthogonal codes to accommodate different users. However, frequency selective fading destroys the orthogonality and causes multiple access interference (MAI). The rake receiver has been proposed for a receiver in the downlink channel. Although providing reasona...

Performance Analysis of ZF Pre-Coder and Extended Joint Channel Estimation Method in Downlink CDMA with HPA

In the down link scenario of code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, multi user detectors (MUDs) such as linear de-correlating detector (LDDs) provide satisfactory symbol error rates (SERs) at the expense of much increased complexity, they require all active users’ spreading sequences, which is impractical from privacy point of view. To overcome this impracticality, a simple matched filte...

MAI-suppression with fractional T-equalizer for CDMA

Wideband CDMA systems with orthogonal spreading codes suffer severely due to the loss of orthogonality by multipath propagation. This yields Multiple Access Interference (MAI) which gravely reduces the performance of classical systems with Rake-receivers. In our approach we attempt to restore orthogonality again by using a fractional T-equalizer. The results are compared with a system using the...

Adaptive Interference Suppression for the Downlink of a Direct Sequence CDMA System with Long Spreading Sequences

A simple approach for adaptive interference suppression for the downlink (base-to-mobile link) of a direct sequence (DS) based cellular communication system is presented. The base station transmits the sum of the signals destined for the different mobiles, typically attempting to avoid intra-cell interference by employing orthogonal spreading sequences for different mobiles. However, the signal...

Efficient Implementation of Downlink Cdma Equalization Using Frequency Domain Approximation

A signal transimitted through a wireless channel may be severely distorted due to intersymbol interference (ISI) and multiple access interference (MAI). In this paper, we propose an efficient CDMA receiver based on a frequency domain equalization with a regularized zero forcing equalizer and unit clipper decision with parallel interference cancellation (FDE-RZF-CPIC) to combat both ISI and MAI....
