Therapy Related Changes in Osteosarcoma and Ewing Sarcoma of Bone

چکیده
Histologic evaluation of neoadjuvant chemotherapy effect is a well-established prognostic indicator in osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma arising in bone. Although tumor necrosis is a primary histologic response for the treatment, secondary degenerative changes following necrosis are frequently shown in those tumors. We reviewed some cases of Ewing sarcoma and osteosarcoma of bone with variable histologic alterations after chemotherapy. Secondary degenerative changes seemed to be quite diverse; complete coagulative necrosis, fibrosis/hyalinization, vascular enrichment, edematous stroma, variable shapes of bony trabeculae, and cystic/hemorrhagic changes replaced the tumors. Morphologic changes of the primary tumor cells were not prominent. Such recognition of histologic patterns after chemotherapy would be a great help for the evaluation of therapeutic effect.

sCD30 and sCD40L Detection in Patients with Osteosarcoma, Chondrosarcoma and Ewing Sarcoma
Background: Primary malignant bone tumors are heterogeneous groups of neoplasms, which affect mainly children and adolescents. The most common types are Osteosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma and chondrosarcoma. Elevation of sCD30 and sCD40L has been observed in lymphoma, leukemia and autoimmune disorders. Objective: To evaluate serum concentrations of sCD30 and sCD40L in patients with primary malignant b...

Introduction: Ewing sarcoma (ES), which is described as diffuse endothelioma of the bone, is divided into osseous and extraosseous Ewing sarcoma (EES) mostly affecting children and adolescents. It is a rare, aggressive, and poorly differentiated small blue round cell tumor that seldom affects the head and neck regions. Case Report: Herein, we reported a 46-year-old ma...

Background: The effect of race and ethnicity on some kind of malignant bone tumors including Ewing sarcomahas been proven in different studies. In order to evaluate the latter, national cancer registries may help to increaseunderstanding about potential cancer causes, prevention and control strategies, and apply these findings to controlhealth problems among populations with s...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Preclinical Orthotopic Xenograft Model of Ewing Sarcoma and Other Human Malignant Bone Disease Using Advanced In Vivo Imaging
Ewing sarcoma and osteosarcoma represent the two most common primary bone tumours in childhood and adolescence, with bone metastases being the most adverse prognostic factor. In prostate cancer, osseous metastasis poses a major clinical challenge. We developed a preclinical orthotopic model of Ewing sarcoma, reflecting the biology of the tumour-bone interactions in human disease and allowing in...
