Mobility and quality of service across heterogeneous wireless networks

چکیده
The ability to guarantee Quality of Service (QoS) is one of the key issues in the creation of a telecommunication system. In this paper, we deal with some aspects of providing QoS in wired cum wireless communication environment, focusing on the specific feature of guaranteeing session continuity when the wireless networks, to which a mobile terminal connects to, are also heterogeneous. The terms that define what QoS is should, in this case, be reviewed in order to account also for all aspects related to user mobility inside such an environment. In this paper, such a new framework for the representation of QoS is proposed. Moreover, a wireless mobility test case is also presented. This is based on appropriate middleware we implemented, which allows a mobile terminal to experience real wireless IP mobility while moving on a large spatial scale between different sites, scattered over a metropolitan area. 2004 Elsevier B.V. Supporting the end-to-end Quality of Service Across Multiple Heterogeneous Wireless Networks
Supporting quality of service (QoS) in wireless networks has been a very rich and interesting area of research. Many significant advances have been made in supporting QoS in single wireless networks. However, support for the QoS across multiple heterogeneous wireless networks will be required in the future wireless networks. In connections spanning multiple wireless networks, the end-to-end QoS...
متن کاملA Review: On Mobility Prediction for Wireless Networks
Rapid mobile networking growth and network applications diversity led to the need for future generation wireless networks to support a wide range of Quality-ofService (QoS). Next generation networks of 4G and beyond aim to ensure that seamless mobility across heterogeneous networks and support to real-time multimedia services. This needs intra and inter-domain handovers/service reconfiguration ...
متن کاملAn efficient non-repudiation billing protocol in heterogeneous 3G-WLAN networks
The wireless communication with delivering variety of services to users is growing rapidly in recent years. The third generation of cellular networks (3G), and local wireless networks (WLAN) are the two widely used technologies in wireless networks. 3G networks have the capability of covering a vast area; while, WLAN networks provide higher transmission rates with less coverage. Since the two n...
متن کاملImproving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

With the development of technology, the use of wireless telecommunication networks for the various affairs is essential. These networks are one of the safest and most widely used networks, for instance, in medical care and remote patient monitoring. What matters is the quality of service in these networks. The purpose of this paper is to increase packet transduction in a wireless body area netw...
