Alongside this, we are seeing dramatic growth in data on the network compared with voice: the so-called`data wave'. While much mobile network tra¯ c is currently voice there is increasing use of the available data facilities with these now being enhanced (e.g. via evolution of the global system for mobile communications and subsequently the introduction of`third-generation' systems such as the universal mobile telecommunications system). Accordingly, there is considerable interest and activity in the research community concerning possible technologies exploiting yet higher frequencies where truly broadband future wireless networks may be realized. This paper will review some of the technology options currently available or under examination for millimetre-wave broadband wireless networks and will go on to consider in some detail a speci c example of` xed-wireless' technology synergies exploiting radio-over- bre techniques to achieve ®exible, recon- gurable broadband wireless networks.

A Survey on Multicast Routing Approaches in Wireless Mesh Networks
Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) which mediates the broadband Internet access, have been recently received many attentions by the researchers. In order to increase capacity in these networks, nodes are equipped with multiple radios tuned on multiple channels emerging multi radio multi-channel WMNs (MRMC WMNs). Therefore, a vital challenge that poses in MRMC WMNs is how to properly assign channels ...

After conquering the core and metropolitan networks, fibre is now penetrating into the access domain. Its low loss and huge bandwidth enable the delivery of any present and foreseeable set of broadband services, and also make it a nice match to the wireless link to the end user. Cost effectiveness is a key issue, and will be decisive for the network topology choices. Point-to-point may be the m...
متن کاملEffect of Nonlinear Phase Variation in Optical Millimetre Wave Radio over Fibre Systems
In this paper, we propose an optical millimetre wave radio-over-fibre (mm-wave RoF) system that uses a dual drive Mach Zehnder modulator (DD-MZM), which is biased at the maximum transmission biasing point, to generate an optical double sideband-suppressed carrier. The input to the DD-MZM are binary phase shift keying (BPSK), quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK), 8-phase shift keying (8-PSK) and...
متن کاملBroadcast Routing in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: A Particle Swarm optimization Approach
While routing in multi-hop packet radio networks (static Ad-hoc wireless networks), it is crucial to minimize power consumption since nodes are powered by batteries of limited capacity and it is expensive to recharge the device. This paper studies the problem of broadcast routing in radio networks. Given a network with an identified source node, any broadcast routing is considered as a directed...
متن کاملFully-Photonic Analogue-to-Digital Conversion Technique for Super-Broadband Digitized-Radio over Fibre Link
Digitized-Radio over Fibre (DRoF) techniques provide higher dynamic range and are more robust against optical link impairments. In this paper, a fully-photonic DRoF system is proposed and its performance is investigated in an integrated system with an analogue Radio over Fibre (ARoF) system. In this simulation based evaluation, DRoF and ARoF systems performance in the presence of other channels...
