End-of-life Vehicle Recycling - a Review of the State-of-the-art

Subject review End-of-life vehicle (ELV) waste flow is an important environmental concern, because of its rapidly increasing amount and special composition of hazardous substances. Its recycling is a matter of country’s attitude towards supporting the environment preservation and it has emerged as a novel area of scientific research. In this paper, we presented a holistic view of the environmental engineering issues of the ELV recycling by covering a wide range of peer-reviewed journal papers. The purpose of this review paper is to give an extensive content analysis overview of the literature published in the period 2003 ÷ 2012. In addition, the major classification scheme and a distribution list of journal papers published in the considered period are created to identify the primary publication outlets. Finally, on the basis of the performed review, several important recommendations for the future research are highlighted and discussed.
