Hemostatic- and fibrinolytic-affecting agents in experimental vascular sensitization.

چکیده
THAT multiple alterations in hemostasis may occur during subacute hjpersensitivity reactions in the rabbit was suggested by demonstrations of physiological and histological changes during experimental procedures.^ An initial delay in blood coagulation was followed by the subsequent development of intralummal aggregates of formed elements of the blood and of thrombi in association with inflammatory involvement of vascular and perivaseular tissue. Since pathophysiological alterations in the histopathogenesis of cardiovascular-renal sensitization can only be partially explained by histamine and serotonin release, consideration was therefore given to possible participating roles for components of hemostatic and fibrinolytic systems. Evidence for their association with other hypersensitivity mechanisms has been offered and reviewed.

The process of fibrin clot formation is a series of complex and well-regulated reactions involving blood vessels, platelets, procoagulant plasma proteins, natural inhibitors, and fibrinolytic enzymes. Vasculitis can be caused by a variety of different agents as bacteria, viruses, protozoal, rickettsial organisms, toxic, drugs, medications, and neoplasms. The most common cause of vasculitis is t...
متن کاملAnticoagulant, Antiplatelet, and Fibrinolytic (Thrombolytic) Drugs
Little intravascular coagulation of blood occurs in normal physiological conditions. Hemostasis involves the interplay of three procoagulant phases (vascular, platelet, and coagulation) that promote blood clotting to prevent blood loss (Fig. 22.1). The fibrinolytic system prevents propagation of clotting beyond the site of vascular injury and is involved in clot dissolution, or lysis (Fig. 22.2...
متن کاملEndothelial cell control of thrombosis
Hemostasis encompasses a set of tightly regulated processes that govern blood clotting, platelet activation, and vascular repair. Upon vascular injury, the hemostatic system initiates a series of vascular events and activates extravascular receptors that act in concert to seal off the damage. Blood clotting is subsequently attenuated by a plethora of inhibitors that prevent excessive clot forma...

www.nietoeditores.com.mx The fibrinolytic activity of the intravascular compartment is a major mechanism of defense against thrombosis. It allows specific lysis of excess fibrin formed after vascular injury in order to restore vascular integrity and blood flow. Its effectiveness depends on the simultaneous functioning of the fibrin network as (a) a support of the hemostatic clot, (b) a surface ...
متن کاملUpdate on tumor cell procoagulant factors.
Tumor cells produce tissue factor, cancer procoagulant, plasminogen activators and other factors that interact with the coagulation system, the fibrinolytic system and vascular or blood cells such that they can upset the normal homeostasis and balance between activation and inhibition of the coagulation and fibrinolytic systems. These activities play a role in tumor cell growth and metastasis, ...
