A novel peanut allergoid is safe and effective in immunotherapy in a peanut allergy mouse model

چکیده
Background Peanut is one of the most common foods responsible for food-induced anaphylaxis in adults. Unfortunately, commonly used allergen-specific immunotherapy has not been successful for the treatment of food allergy because of the high risk of serious side-effects. Therefore, chemically modified allergen extracts with improved safety characteristics are being investigated for its potential use in immunotherapy.

A pragmatic and safe way of inducing immunotolerance in selected peanut allergic children: a single centre experience
Background Peanut oral immunotherapy is both safe and effective in the treatment of children with peanut allergy but study protocols demand large resource commitment, limiting their adoption in routine clinical practice. We present 8 selected peanut allergic children who have achieved either full tolerance or an increased threshold to peanuts following a home based, low dose introduction of pea...
متن کاملAra h 1 CD4+ T cell epitope-based peptides: candidates for a peanut allergy therapeutic
BACKGROUND Peanut allergy is a life-threatening condition; there is currently no cure. While whole allergen extracts are used for specific immunotherapy for many allergies, they can cause severe reactions and even fatalities in peanut allergy. OBJECTIVE To identify short, HLA-degenerate CD4(+) T cell epitope-based peptides of the major peanut allergen Ara h 1 that target allergen-specific T c...

Diverse therapeutic strategies for food allergy are under investigation including food allergen-specific and nonspecific approaches. Allergen-specific approaches include immunotherapy with native food allergens, immunotherapy with mutated recombinant allergens, and diets containing extensively heated milk or egg. Native allergen immunotherapy can be administered via oral, sublingual, subcutaneo...
متن کاملImmunotherapy using algal‐produced Ara h 1 core domain suppresses peanut allergy in mice
Peanut allergy is an IgE-mediated adverse reaction to a subset of proteins found in peanuts. Immunotherapy aims to desensitize allergic patients through repeated and escalating exposures for several months to years using extracts or flours. The complex mix of proteins and variability between preparations complicates immunotherapy studies. Moreover, peanut immunotherapy is associated with freque...
متن کاملImmunotherapy for peanut allergy.
Peanut allergy is one of the commonest food hypersensitivities causing fatal or near-fatal reactions. There is, currently, no preventive treatment and the incidence of severe allergic reactions during peanut desensitisation has limited its clinical use. Anti-immunoglobulin E therapy has been shown to be effective in preventing peanut-induced reactions but it does not result in long-term toleran...
