Novel Peer to Peer Payment Mechanism for Personal Area Network Mobile Gaming

Most mobile games currently available are single player, but the increasing interoperability and connectivity between mobile devices is taking advantage of mobile phone portability for multiplayer gaming. Real-time gaming where players can see each other move at the same time requires the higher bandwidth connectivity offered by Wireless LAN, Bluetooth and to a lesser extent infrared. However, these technologies whilst offering gamers a compelling interactive gaming experience represent limited revenue generating opportunities for network operators and content providers. This paper proposes a solution for gaining incremental revenues from users who play games offline over Bluetooth Peer to Peer connections. This novel payment scheme involves the transfer of credits between gamers based on the outcome of the game. The model incorporates a pay for play element and is designed to create a loyal community of gamers and enhance the gaming experience.
