The use of GPS for continuous measurement of kinematic data and for the validation of a model in alpine skiing

چکیده
At the Institute for Theory and Practice of Training and Movement a model was developed to calculate the running time and the optimal trajectory in alpine skiing with the use of genetic algorithms. Up to now the results of the validation of the model were promising but the evaluation (3D-kinematic, DLT) required a lot of time. A GPS-System from the Institute for Sports and Environment offers new possibilities to measure kinematic data of alpine skiers and could be used to validate the model of alpine skiing. The advantage of this GPS-System is the direct use of the results without time-consuming calculations. Further the data of the GPS-System could be used to produce virtual camera rides and to evaluate the results under aspects of competition and aspects of safety (e.g. comparison between real and optimized trajectories, analysis of the curve radius, analysis of the angle of gate entrance, analysis of the centrifugal force). The aim of the study was to prove the practical use of this GPS-System in alpine skiing.

Examination on the Aggression Levels of Turkish National Skiing Athletes
Leading the aggression in some athletes ensures productivity; however, misleading does not give the same result. The aggression may reach dangerous extents. Nevertheless, aggressive behavior can be regarded as a relaxation. One of the important reasons of violence and aggression seen in sports is the belief that it increases the performance or success. Based upon these arguments, we aim to exam...
متن کاملCombining Neural Network with Genetic Algorithm for prediction of S4 Parameter using GPS measurement
The ionospheric plasma bubbles cause unpredictable changes in the ionospheric electron density. These variations in the ionospheric layer can cause a phenomenon known as the ionospheric scintillation. Ionospheric scintillation could affect the phase and amplitude of the radio signals traveling through this medium. This phenomenon occurs frequently around the magnetic equator and in low latitu...
متن کامل3d Measurement of Lower Limb Kinematics in Alpine Ski Racing Using Inertial Sensors
INTRODUCTION: In alpine skiing monitoring the 3D segment kinematics is crucial to better understanding the injury risk factors and performance aspects. 3D camcorders have been primarily used to evaluate segment kinematics. While these systems allow valid measurement, their complexity limits their use to research applications. Alternatively, wearable systems fusing inertial measurement units (IM...
متن کاملApplication of a full body inertial measurement system in alpine skiing: a comparison with an optical video based system.
This study aims at determining the accuracy of a full body inertial measurement system in a real skiing environment in comparison with an optical video based system. Recent studies have shown the use of inertial measurement systems for the determination of kinematical parameters in alpine skiing. However, a quantitative validation of a full body inertial measurement system for the application i...
متن کاملProviding a Multidimensional Measurement Model for Assessing Mobile Telecommunication Service Quality (MS-Qual)
Because of the need to develop specific measurement scales for different services industries, this study aimed to empirically develop a reliable and valid model specifically for measuring mobile telecommunication service quality. A multidimensional measurement model (MS-Qual) has been proposed based on an extensive literature review and then, to assess the model validity, convergent and discrim...
