چکیده

Optimal sampling of non band-limited functions is an issue of great importance that has attracted considerable attention. We propose to tackle this problem through the use of a frequency warping: First, by a non-linear shrinking of frequencies, the function is transformed into a band-limited one. One may then perform a decomposition in Fourier series. This process gives rise to new orthonormal bases of the Sobolev spaces H α. When α is an integer, these orthonormal bases can be expressed in terms of Laguerre functions. We study the reconstruction and speed of convergence properties of the warping-based sampling. Besides theoretical considerations, numerical experiments are performed.

Low-Dimensional Representation of Spectral Envelope Without Deterioration for Full-Band Speech Analysis/Synthesis System

A speech coding for a full-band speech analysis/synthesis system is described. In this work, full-band speech is defined as speech with a sampling frequency above 40 kHz, whose Nyquist frequency covers the audible frequency range. In prior works, speech coding has generally focused on the narrowband speech with a sampling frequency below 16 kHz. On the other hand, statistical parametric speech ...

Robot Arm Performing Writing through Speech Recognition Using Dynamic Time Warping Algorithm

This paper aims to develop a writing robot by recognizing the speech signal from the user. The robot arm constructed mainly for the disabled people who can’t perform writing on their own. Here, dynamic time warping (DTW) algorithm is used to recognize the speech signal from the user. The action performed by the robot arm in the environment is done by reducing the redundancy which frequently fac...

Warped Frames: Dispersive vs. Non–dispersive Sampling

Conventional Time-Frequency and Time-Scale Representations are often too rigid to capture fine details of sound or musical signals. Adaptation of ideal time-frequency tilings is often desirable in order to represent the signal in terms of components that are meaningful from a physical or perceptual point of view. Remapping of the time and frequency axes by means of time and frequency warping ca...

VTLN based on the linear interpolation of contiguous mel filter-bank energies

This paper describes a novel feature-space VTLN method that models frequency warping as a linear interpolation of contiguous Mel filter-bank energies. The presented technique aims to reduce the distortion in the Mel filter-bank energy estimation due to the harmonic composition of voiced speech intervals and DFT sampling when the central frequency of band-pass filters is shifted. The presented i...

Bark and ERB bilinear transforms

Use of a bilinear conformal map to achieve a frequency warping nearly identical to that of the Bark frequency scale is described. Because the map takes the unit circle to itself, its form is that of the transfer function of a first-order allpass filter. Since it is a first-order map, it preserves the model order of rational systems, making it a valuable frequency warping technique for use in au...
