Increased Lipoxygenase Activity is Involved in the Hypersensitive Response of Wheat Leaf Cells Infected with A virulent Rust Fungi or Treated with Fungal Elicitor

چکیده
The hypersensitive reaction in incompatible wheat-rust interactions is characterized by an increase in lipoxygenase activity detectable as early as 28 h after penetration o f the pathogen. In contrast, lipoxygenase activity in the compatible interaction did not increase until the onset of sporulation. Lipoxygenase activity also increased following treatment o f wheat leaves with an elicitor frac tion from germ tubes of Puccinia graminis tritici.

Using transcription of six Puccinia triticina races to identify the effective secretome during infection of wheat
Wheat leaf rust, caused by the basidiomycete Puccinia triticina, can cause yield losses of up to 20% in wheat producing regions. During infection, the fungus forms haustoria that secrete proteins into the plant cell and effect changes in plant transcription, metabolism, and defense. It is hypothesized that new races emerge as a result of overcoming plant resistance via changes in the secreted e...
متن کاملDetection of the wheat rust disease infected farms using Landsat images
The goal of this study is to identify farms which are affected by wheat rust disease. For this, the sensor data of Landsat 7 satellites in growing season of 2013 and 2014 along with some laboratorial data containing reflectance spectrum of leaf and leaf health degree in different levels of disease are used. The reflectance values of leaf are collected by an ASD spectroradiometer in the range of...
متن کاملRapid stimulation of 5-lipoxygenase activity in potato by the fungal elicitor arachidonic Acid.
The activity of lipoxygenase (LOX) in aged potato tuber discs increased by almost 2-fold following treatment of the discs with the fungal elicitor arachidonic acid (AA). Enzyme activity increased above that in untreated discs within 30 min after AA treatment, peaked at 1 to 3 h, and returned to near control levels by 6 h. The majority of the activity was detected in a soluble fraction (105,000g...

متن کاملMicroscopic and Molecular Characterization of the Prehaustorial Resistance against Wheat Leaf Rust (Puccinia triticina) in Einkorn (Triticum monococcum)
Puccinia triticina f. sp. tritici (Eriks.), the causal agent of leaf rust, causes substantial yield losses in wheat production. In wheat many major leaf rust resistance genes have been overcome by virulent races. In contrast, the prehaustorial resistance (phr) against wheat leaf rust detected in the diploid wheat Einkorn (Triticum monoccocum var. monococcum) accession PI272560 confers race-inde...
