چکیده

The present investigation deals with the kinetics of submerged citric acid fermentation by Aspergillus niger using blackstrap molasses as the basal fermentation media. A laboratory scale stirred fermentor of 15-L capacity having working volume of 9-L was used for cultivation process and nutritional analysis. Among the 10 stock cultures of Aspergillus niger, the strain GCBT7 was found to enhance citric acid production. This strain was subjected to parametric studies. Major effects were caused due to oxygen tension (1.0 l/l/min), pH value (6.0) and incubation temperature (30oC). All fermentations were carried out following the growth on 150 g/l raw molasses sugars for 144 hours. Ferrocyanide (200 ppm) was used to control the trace metals present in the molasses medium. Ammonium nitrate (0.2%) was added as nitrogen source. Maximum citric acid production (99.56 ± 3.5a g/l) was achieved by Aspergillus

Gamma-Ray Induced Mutants 14/20 and 79/20 of Aspergillus niger Increases Citric Acid Production from Molasses and Pumpkin

Among the various fungal strains screened for citric acid production, Aspergillus niger is known to produce considerable amounts of citric acid and other organic acids when cultivated in carbohydrate-rich medium of fermentation. A number of indigenous raw materials such as cane molasses and pumpkin have been carried out in present study for citric acid production by using gamma ray induced muta...

Effect of Additional Mineral Ions on Citric Acid Productivity by Aspergillus Niger Ng-110

The mutant strain of Aspergillus niger NG-110 was evaluated for the present investigation of citric acid production. The cultural conditions optimized during the course of study were pH and K4Fe(CN)6, K2HPO4 and CaCl2 concentrations. Cane-molasses was utilized as the basal fermentation medium. The mutant NG-110 produces maximal amount of citric acid when the pH of the medium was 6. When the con...

Pre-Treatment of Raw Sugarcane Molasses by Metal Complexing Agents for Improved Citric Acid Fermentation by Aspergillus Niger

The present study deals with the pre-treatment of sugar cane molasses for the enhanced production of citric acid by Aspergillus niger NG-4. Different metal complexing agents such as potassium ferrocyanide [K4Fe(CN)6] and ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA) were also employed for molasses pre-treatment and the concentrations varied from 50-350 ppm. The maximum production of citric acid (36...

Process Optimization of Citric Acid Production from Aspergillus Niger Using Fuzzy Logic Design

The inherent non-linearity of citric acid fermentation from Aspergillus niger renders its control difficult, so there is a need to fine-tune the bioreactor performance for maximum production of citric acid in batch culture. For this, fuzzy logic is becoming a popular tool to handle non-linearity of a batch process. The present manuscript deals with fuzzy logic control of citric acid accretion b...

Influences of alcohol derivatives on citric acid productivity by Aspergillus niger in stirred fermentor

Influences of phenol, α-naphtol and β-naphtol, which are toxic chemicals, on citric acid biosynthesis and biomass in the artificial culture setting of Aspergillus niger using batch fermenter are examined in the most favorable fermentation conditions, and a model is proposed. Addition of certain concentrations of phenol, α-naphtol and β-naphtol to the culture reduces the citric acid production. ...
