A near deterministic linear optical CNOT gate

quantum information, deterministic linear optical gates, conditional measurements, hybrid systems We show how to construct a near deterministic CNOT using several single photons sources, linear optics, photon number resolving quantum non-demolition detectors and feed-forward. This gate does not require the use of massively entangled states common to other implementations and is very efficient on resources. Only two ancilla photons are required for the operation of the gate and these are not destroyed in the conditioning process. The key element of this gate are non-demolition detectors that use a weak cross Kerr nonlinearity effect to conditionally generate a phase shift on a coherent probe, if a photon is present in the signal mode. These potential phase shifts can then be measured using highly efficient homodyne detection.

Enhancing the W State Fusion Process With a To oli Gate and a CNOT Gate via One-Way Quantum Computation and Linear Optics
Creation of large-scale W state quantum networks is a key step for realization of various quantum information tasks. Regarding the photonics technology, a simple optical setup was proposed for the fusion of two W states. Recently it was shown that via a single Fredkin gate, this basic so-called fusion setup can be enhanced. However the main problem was that the probability of success of realiza...

We describe the construction of a conditional quantum control-not (CNOT) gate from linear optical elements following the program of Knill, Laflamme and Milburn [Nature 409, 46 (2001)]. We show that the basic operation of this gate can be tested using current technology. We then simplify the scheme significantly.
متن کاملLinear-optical implementations of the iSWAP and controlled NOT gates based on conventional detectors
The majority of linear-optical nondestructive implementations of universal quantum gates are based on single-photon resolving detectors. We propose two implementations, which are nondestructive (i.e., destroying only ancilla states) and work with conventional detectors (i.e., those which do not resolve number of photons). Moreover, we analyze a recently proposed scheme of Wang et al. [J. Opt. S...

Optical Quantum Information Processing (QIP) holds particular appeal, since it offers the prospect of communicating and computing with the same type of qubit. Linear optical techniques have been shown to be scalable, but t...

Numerical optimization is used to design linear-optical devices that implement a desired quantum gate with perfect fidelity, while maximizing the success rate. For the two-qubit controlled-sign or controlled NOT CNOT gate, we provide numerical evidence that the maximum success rate is S=2 /27 using two unentangled ancilla resources; interestingly, additional ancilla resources do not increase th...
