Implementation of PGM protocol under Linux environment and checking its reliability

چکیده
Pragmatic General Multicast (PGM) is a reliable multicast transport protocol mainly aimed for applications that require ordered, duplicate-free, multicast data delivery from multiple sources to multiple receivers. Each SPM consists of the address of the PGM parent node from which it came. NEs replicate this address with their own when they forward an SPM so that their children will know their parent. This method permits non-PGM NEs to engage transparently PGM nodes Index Terms PGM,ns2, wireless-

Synthesis and Verification of Constraints in the PGM Protocol
Specifications of protocols usually involve several parameters, for example the number of retransmissions or the timeout delays. The properties satisfied by the protocol depend often on the relation between these parameters. Automatic synthesis of such relations becomes a difficult problem when the constraints are too complex, e.g., non-linear expressions between integer and/or real parameters....
متن کاملModel Checking Large Network Protocol Implementations
Network protocols must work. The effects of protocol specification or implementation errors range from reduced performance, to security breaches, to bringing down entire networks. However, network protocols are difficult to test due to the exponential size of the state space they define. Ideally, a protocol implementation must be validated against all possible events (packet arrivals, packet lo...

Pragmatic General Multicast (PGM) is a reliable multicast protocol, designed to minimize both the probability of negative acknowledgements (NAK) implosion and the loading of the network due to retransmissions of lost packets. This protocol was presented to the Internet Engineering Task Force as an open reference specification. In this paper, we focus on the main reliability property which PGM i...
متن کاملConcurrent multipath communication for real-time traffic
The growing availability of multiple network interfaces on both mobile and fixed hosts makes concurrent multipath transfer (CMT) an appealing option to improve the performance of increasingly bandwidth-hungry multimedia applications. The Westwood Stream Control Transmission Protocol with Partial Reliability (W-PR-SCTP) is a partially reliable, SCTP-based transport protocol featuring a novel ada...
متن کاملThe ARTCP header structure, computation and processing in the network subsystem of Linux kernel
ARTCP is a transport level communication protocol based on TCP. It uses temporal characteristics of data flow to control it, that allows to split algorithms of congestion avoidance and reliable delivery. The article discusses possible ARTCP header structure and practical aspects of forming the header and calculation of the header fields. It demonstrates the possibility of transparent replacemen...
